Does migraine run in the family?
The cause of migraine is not clear, which may be related to genetic factors. Migraine is not a genetic disease, but it has a family tendency. If parents have migraine, the probability of children suffering from migraine will increase, but they may not necessarily suffer from migraine. Migraine has genetic susceptibility. About 60% migraine sufferers have a family history, and the risk of their relatives suffering from migraine is 3-6 times that of the general population. Among them, familial hemiplegic migraine is autosomal dominant with high penetrance. According to the mutant genes, it can be divided into three categories, namely CACNA 1A gene, ATP 1A2 gene and SCN 1A gene. Clinically, there is a phenomenon: in a family, parents have a history of migraine, and their children have a higher probability of migraine, which has a tendency of family inheritance, but migraine is not a family genetic disease. Genetic factors play a certain role in the occurrence and development of migraine, but the specific pathogenesis is not very clear.
