Wu and Lu Xun are two outstanding novelists in different periods. Because they are similar in times, life and thoughts, especially they are both intellectuals, they are very familiar with the life and thoughts of intellectuals in the same class. Wu wrote The Scholars with the life of intellectuals as the theme, and Lu Xun's Kong Yiji and White Light are also works describing the life of intellectuals, so we put them together for investigation. It is not difficult to see that Lu Xun's novels are somewhat influenced by Wu's novels, but they have developed and achieved incomparable achievements. This paper attempts to compare the two works from the theme.
First, "Shi Kuang" thought.
The Scholars puts forward the author's ideal of saving the world by courtesy, music and soldiers through some positive figures, but he deeply doubts whether the ideal can be realized. At the last moment, with infinite sadness, Wu asked the reader a question that he could not answer: "Look at this official! Is it true that no sage or gentleman has been admitted to the scholar since then? " [1] We should make due comments on Wu's Kuang Shili thought: on the one hand, we should see his criticism of the dark reality at that time; On the other hand, we should also see that due to the limitations of the times and classes, he can't adhere to advanced ideals and can only spend a lonely life in resentment and doubt.
