Three elements of argumentative writing
1, argument (something to prove). It is a sentence that correctly and clearly expounds the author's point of view, and it is the soul and command of an article. Any article has only one central argument, and generally there can be sub-arguments.
2. demonstrate (prove what). It is the material to support the argument and the reason and basis used by the author to prove the argument, which can be divided into factual arguments and theoretical arguments.
3. Demonstration (how to prove it). It is the process of proving an argument with rigorous arguments. The purpose of argument is to reveal the internal logical relationship between arguments.
Common argumentation methods
1, demonstration by example (example method): cite conclusive, sufficient and representative examples to prove the argument;
2. Citation and argumentation: use the incisive opinions in classic works, famous sayings and aphorisms of famous people at home and abroad, and recognized theorem formulas to prove the argument;
3. Comparative argument: compare the positive and negative arguments or arguments, and prove the arguments in comparison;
4. Metaphorical argument: use familiar things as metaphors to prove the argument.
5. inductive argument: also called "factual argument". Give concrete examples to demonstrate the method of general conclusion.
6. Deductive argumentation: also called "theoretical argumentation", it is a method to demonstrate individual cases according to general principles or conclusions. That is, to prove particularity with the argument of universality.
7. Analogy demonstration: it is a method to deduce similar cases from known things, that is, from special to special demonstration methods.
8. Causal argument: prove an argument by analyzing things and revealing the causal relationship between arguments and arguments. Causality argument can be proved by causality, effect and causality.
9, data argument: in the article through a series of data to demonstrate the central argument, improve persuasiveness.
