Writing is an art, and concept is the soul, theme, theory and context of all works of art, and academic papers are no exception. A good topic selection often means that a paper is 30% successful. Only on the basis of topic selection can we lay and expand the theory, design the article structure, research methods and the progress of data (or information) collection. But for undergraduates, topic selection is often the most difficult link. At this time, I prefer to read a lot of literature, whether it is books or hownet papers. Through other people's articles, it is easy to summarize the overall research situation of multiple research directions, such as preliminary research, authoritative references, controversial points, hot spots and even research gaps and omissions in this direction, and then choose the direction and topic that suits you to carry out research. In addition, although I don't often discuss academics with teachers, the experience of teachers and predecessors is very professional and insightful in topic selection and research methods, so I will cherish the dialogue with my tutor in writing and try to get guidance from my tutor. At the same time, practice and experiment are indispensable links in linguistic research, and I believe so are other disciplines. For example, grammar writing requires on-the-spot investigation and data collection, while computing and cognitive linguistics require a large number of experiments to collect data, and subsequent analysis often requires secondary research. This process is very time-consuming and labor-intensive, even contrary to the expected results, but it will find more fresh topics, emerge more inspiration, and finally make your paper more perfect. Personally, field trips have almost run through my entire undergraduate career. Although not as professional and devoted as experts and professors, this practice will make people deeply feel the vitality and sociality of disciplines and topics. Practice-based data analysis and thesis writing are often no longer boring "transformation of expression form", but a "transformation of life form", which is a valuable artistic creation.
