In 1980s, under the leadership of Professor Wang Changhui and Professor Gu Zuzhao, the literature and art theory teaching and research section of Chinese Department gradually established the discipline foundation of literature and art.

Professor Fang Xi Ball has been devoted to the study of poetics in Ming and Qing Dynasties for a long time. Among them, Xu's poetics theory, Fang Yizhi's poetics thought and the "theory of poetic change" from the first seven scholars to Ye Xie have a high starting point and many achievements, and their academic level is in a leading position in China, with a high academic status.
Professor Fang Xi Ball is currently in charge of two national social science fund projects: "Poetics and Poetic Change Theory in Tang Dynasty-From the First Seven Scholars to Ye Xie" (07BZW04 1), "Research on the Reform and Inheritance of Huangmei Opera" (07BB 19) and two provincial and ministerial projects. Fourth, the research direction
The key disciplines of literature and art are condensed into four distinctive research directions: basic principles of literature, ancient literary theory, literary aesthetics and western literary theory. Combining the latest theoretical achievements, this subject takes purposeful and meaningful speech use as the research object, explores the relationship between speech act and human history, social activities, national culture, social customs, living environment, living state and subjective psychology, reveals the basic principles and laws of speech act and speech use, and investigates and analyzes the coverage and theoretical laws of applied linguistics. Starting from the perspectives and fields of teachers' taboo language, administrative language, polite language and traditional Chinese opera language, this paper refines multi-level pragmatic patterns and rules such as Chinese communication principles, rules of understanding implied intention of discourse, principles of forming swear words, cultural patterns of Chinese discourse construction, and analyzes and summarizes various characteristics and general laws of traditional Chinese opera language, so as to provide theoretical support for in-depth study of applied linguistics.
Professor Jiang Jiebao, an academic leader, is currently presiding over three scientific research projects, including the Anhui Social Science Planning Project "Language and Culture Research of Huangmei Opera". Based on the cultural context of Wanjiang and drawing lessons from the latest achievements of Chinese and western linguistics, this topic explores the cross-development of rhetoric and pragmatics. Based on the theories of western pragmatics, speech act and cultural linguistics, this paper discusses the phonological features and cultural connotations of Huangmei Opera language, studies the linguistic features and cultural linguistic features of Anqing dialect in Anhui Province, and highlights the regional characteristics of Chinese pragmatic research. The members of the discipline group also learn from the research methods of Dunhuang studies, make full use of the existing literature materials, carry out the research on Huizhou contract documents and difficult words of local customs, explore the rich language and cultural information in them, and promote the in-depth development of academic research in this discipline with case studies and specific pragmatic resources.
Professor Humboldt, an academic leader, currently presides over the national social science fund project "Linguistics and Cultural Linguistics of Anqing Dialect in Anhui Province" and the social science planning project of Anhui Province "Study on Function Words of Anqing Dialect". Dr. Chu Xiaoyun presided over the national social science fund project "Research on the commonness of contract documents since Song and Yuan Dynasties".
In recent years, members of this discipline group have published more than 90 papers and 6 monographs on China language, dialect, ancient Chinese research and language application. Taking classical literature as the main research object, members of this discipline group scientifically apply the theories and methods of bibliography, edition and collation, give full play to the advantages and disadvantages of electronic literature for easy retrieval, make the past serve the present, distinguish right from wrong, and solidly carry out literature sorting and historical materials and academic history research, thus forming three stable research directions: language and literature research, literature and culture research, and historical literature and culture research.
Liu Jiaoshou, the academic leader, is the host of the Anhui excellent course Ancient Chinese. In recent years, he has published 28 papers in China Chinese, Dialects, Studies on Ancient Chinese, Journal of Dream of Red Mansions and other periodicals, and published Interpretation of Chinese Dictionary, Research on the Motivation of Homonyms in Beijing Dialect, Interpretation of Difficult Words in Jin Ping Mei and so on. In recent years, members of this discipline group have published more than 70 papers and 7 academic monographs in periodicals such as China Language and Dialect, Research on Ancient Chinese and Research on Folk Classics. Members of this discipline group will combine western theories such as reception aesthetics and literary hermeneutics with China's traditional interpretation methods, investigate the reception of important poetry classics in literary criticism of past dynasties and the aesthetic rewriting and application in literary creation, and pay attention to the critical study of Selected Works, especially the literary works of Ming and Qing Dynasties; This paper discusses the main problems and weak links in the history of China's poetics and Ci, and constantly promotes the development of China's poetics and Ci studies. Dig deep into the rich literary and cultural resources in Wanjiang area since Ming and Qing dynasties, and focus on highlighting the regional cultural characteristics of the discipline. Professor Wang Haiyan is a provincial famous teacher and the host of the provincial excellent course "Modern and Contemporary Literature in China". He presided over the national social science fund project "Research on the Development History of China's Novels in the New Period" and the Anhui social science planning project "Opposition and Harmony: A Thirty-year Interpretation of Novel Development Theory in the New Period". The research direction of this subject is clear, focusing on the integration of comparative vision and specific literary phenomena. This paper not only makes an empirical study of the factual relationship between Chinese and Western literature, but also discusses the spiritual echo of Chinese and Western literature, forming three mature research directions: comparative poetics, comparison of Chinese and Western literature in the twentieth century, and comparative culture and literature between China and the West in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
