Abstract: Physical education is an important part of quality education reform and plays an important role in promoting students' all-round and healthy development. The reform of physical education teaching mode in the new period should meet the overall requirements of quality education reform. On the basis of constantly improving students' physical health, we should also achieve the goal of cultivating students' good exercise habits, scientific exercise methods and lifelong exercise concepts.

Physical education is an important part of China's education system, which has a series of important functions such as strengthening students' physique, cultivating good will quality, perfecting students' individual personality and improving students' physical and mental health. Due to the different physical and mental development of students at different stages, the goals and methods of physical education are also different. These different stages of physical education teaching models are interrelated and influenced each other, and isomorphism has become the teaching system of physical education courses in China at this stage. At present, China has entered a critical stage of quality education reform. As an important part of quality education reform, physical education must reform and adjust its own educational model according to the fundamental requirements of quality education reform in the new period.
First, the significance of promoting the reform of physical education teaching mode in the new period
1. The reform of physical education teaching mode is the meaning of quality education reform. As mentioned above, quality education is ability education, emphasizing students' physical and mental health and balanced development, which is a brand-new educational model compared with traditional exam-oriented education. Quality education is the general requirement of all educational model reforms at all stages in China, and physical education is no exception. Compared with other educational courses and contents, physical education plays an irreplaceable role in improving students' physical health and cultivating their personality, and the reform of their own educational model should be promoted according to the requirements of quality education.
2. The reform of physical education teaching mode accords with the overall goal of talent training in the new period. With the accelerated development of China's economy and society, all industries and fields have higher and higher requirements for the comprehensive quality of talents. Talents should not only have good professional skills, but also have good physical functions to adapt to high-intensity work and labor. In this sense, promoting the reform of physical education teaching mode in the new period is essentially in line with the overall goal and requirements of talent training.
3. The reform of physical education teaching mode conforms to the general requirements of China's physical education development in the new period. Since entering the new era, the development strategy of China's sports industry has undergone profound changes, from a "sports power" that simply pursues competitive sports achievements to a "sports power" that advocates the participation of the whole people. In this process, sports undertakes a series of functions, such as cultivating students' strong interest in sports, popularizing sports professional knowledge and establishing lifelong sports concept. Therefore, vigorously promoting the reform of physical education mode in the new period is in line with the essential requirements of the adjustment of sports development strategy.
Second, the main goal of the reform of physical education teaching mode
1. Improve students' physical health in an all-round way. Many investigation conclusions and research results show that compared with foreign students of the same age group, the overall physical health and physical function level of teenagers in China are completely backward, and the lack of physical exercise is the direct cause of the above phenomenon. The primary and middle school students in our country have a heavy academic burden, so it is difficult for the traditional physical education teaching model to achieve the goal of comprehensively improving students' physical function level in a short time. Therefore, to promote the reform of physical education teaching mode in the new period is to take the overall improvement of students' physical health as the most important goal.
2. Cultivate students' strong interest in sports. By implementing the reform of physical education teaching mode, cultivating students' strong interest in physical education will change from traditional passive learning to active participation, which will greatly improve the quality of physical education teaching.
3. Cultivate students' scientific exercise habits. In the traditional physical education class course, teachers' professional level is not strong, and scientific guidance on students' exercise habits and methods is neglected, which leads to endless accidents. By implementing the reform of physical education teaching mode, teachers should not only guide students' scientific sports in class, but also help students form the habit of daily scientific exercise and sports, so as to achieve the purpose of physical education teaching.
4. Establish the concept of lifelong sports. Lifelong physical education is a concept generally advocated and respected by physical education all over the world, and it is also one of the goals that should be achieved in the reform of physical education mode in China in the new period. By helping students to establish the concept of lifelong sports, they will always maintain a strong interest in participating in sports and get lasting happiness, and finally achieve the goal of improving their health and national physique.
Third, the main problems in China's physical education teaching mode at this stage
1. The importance attached to sports is seriously insufficient. At present, the main problem of education at all stages in China is the serious lack of attention to sports. Fundamentally speaking, China has not completely shaken off the influence of exam-oriented education mode. Although physical education class has been included in the content of the senior high school entrance examination, and occupies a certain proportion of the score, the proportion of physical education class is obviously lower than that of the culture class. In order to get the corresponding score, students often train the examination content mechanically in the process of receiving physical education, ignoring the all-round exercise of physical function. In addition, many schools sacrifice physical education class's teaching time and students' physical exercise time in order to improve students' academic performance, so it is normal for physical education class to be "tied and occupied".
2. The degree of specialization of PE teachers is low. At present, physical education teachers in many schools have no professional education foundation or academic qualifications, or it is difficult to receive systematic professional training regularly, so it is difficult to effectively improve the professional level of teaching.
3. The physical education curriculum system is not perfect. Physical education teaching is a complete and systematic teaching system, including various teaching tasks and objectives. However, judging from the current development of physical education in China, the physical education curriculum system in many schools is not perfect, and most of the teaching contents are seriously lacking except classroom teaching.
Fourthly, suggestions on promoting the reform of physical education teaching mode in China.
1. Pay more attention to sports. In order to effectively promote the reform of physical education teaching mode, we must pay full attention to physical education teaching, incorporate physical education courses into the content of the senior high school entrance examination, and advocate the examination mode of combining daily examination with on-site examination, so that the examination results can fully reflect students' physical function and health level. Schools should ensure the teaching time in physical education class, and change the phenomenon of attaching importance to cultural classes and neglecting physical education class.
2. Improve the professional level of PE teachers. On the one hand, strengthen the professional training of existing physical education teachers and ensure that physical education teachers receive professional training regularly. On the other hand, excellent social professionals or excellent athletes are widely introduced as physical education teachers to improve the professional quality of physical education teachers in an all-round way.
3. Improve the physical education curriculum system. On the basis of the existing physical education classroom teaching mode, we should comprehensively improve the physical education curriculum system, and bring the cultivation of students' perfect personality, good will quality, interest in physical education, scientific physical education mode and lifelong physical education concept into the physical education curriculum system to ensure the integrity and scientificity of the curriculum system.
