At present, there are the following authoritative versions of core journals published in Chinese mainland:

The first one is the Citation Report of China Sci-tech Journals (hereinafter referred to as the Citation Report) published once a year by China Institute of Sci-tech Information. In the fourth quarter of each year, CITIC publishes the ranking of scientific research papers of universities and research institutes in the previous year. The ranking includes the number of papers collected by sci, ei and istp respectively and the number of papers published by China journals. Citation reports are based on 1300 Chinese and foreign sci-tech journals. The content of the report is to count and analyze many indicators of these journals, the most important of which is to classify and rank the "impact factors".

The second book is the Compendium of China Core Journals (hereinafter referred to as Compendium) jointly edited and published by Peking University Library and Peking University Library Journal Work Research Association. Summary of Main Contents is published irregularly, with the first edition published in 1996 and the second edition published in 2000. The compendium includes Chinese periodicals in various disciplines such as social science and natural science. Among them, the identification of core journals is comprehensively evaluated through five indicators.

The selection principle of statistical source journals in Citation Report and the identification of core journals in Summary of Contents are based on different methods, so the core journals defined by them (referring to science and technology) are not completely consistent. At present, in the appraisal of scientific research achievements, our school recognizes the core journals published in citation reports and abstract. Journals rated as core journals in each citation report and abstract are marked with "#" and ***597 kinds before their titles. There are 434 social science journals designated as core journals by 1996 edition and 2000 edition of Summary, including "=" and "* *". In addition, the periodicals listed in ei and sci in 1999 are marked with "+"(71species) or "&"respectively. (28 species).

Established by the Document Information Center of China Academy of Sciences, it is divided into core database and extended database. After strict screening, the source periodicals of the core library are authoritative and representative core periodicals in various disciplines. In the identification of scientific research achievements, our school identified all publications in the core database of China Science Citation Database as core journals.

Fourth, Summary of Core Journals of Humanities and Social Sciences in China. It is a core periodical database jointly established by the Literature Information Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Bibliometric Evaluation Center of Social Sciences, and has been recognized as a core periodical in the appraisal of scientific research achievements in our school.
