Professor Wu is a famous jurist in China and a pioneer and leader of intellectual property research in China. Great breakthroughs have been made in the basic theoretical research of intellectual property rights, the exploration of frontier issues of intellectual property rights, and the legal education of intellectual property rights, which has made great contributions to enriching and developing China's intellectual property academic research and cause.

His Research on Basic Issues of Intellectual Property Rights and Research on Intangible Property Rights System are recognized as influential and authoritative works in the field of intellectual property rights, and won the first China Publishing Government Award and the first prize of outstanding scientific research achievements of the Ministry of Justice respectively. In the field of basic theory of copyright, Professor Wu took the lead in studying the "worldwide problem" of fair use of copyright, and his monograph "Research on the System of Fair Use of Copyright" was selected as the first National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award. In 2022, Professor Wu's monograph Essence of Intellectual Property: Institutional Innovation and Knowledge Innovation (Law Press, 20 17 edition) won the first prize of the 8th Qian Duansheng Legal Research Achievement Award.
