The earliest birthplace of staff is Greece, and its history is much earlier than numbered notation. In ancient Greece, the main form of music was vocal music, and the pronunciation of lyrics was expressed by letters such as A, B and C. In Roman times, another symbol was used to express the level of sound. This notation is called "Neumann notation" and is the embryonic form of staff.
The earliest musical score handed down from China described the fingering in detail in words. It's not a symbol. Later, in order to simplify the recording method, subtraction spectrum appeared in the late Tang Dynasty to record fingering, string order and emblem position. Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes have collected many music scores since the Tang and Song Dynasties, including many pipa music scores. In the Song Dynasty, a folk character spectrum recording the pitch appeared in Jiang Baishi Taoist songs.

The universal symbol in the world is the staff.
A method of recording music on five equidistant parallel horizontal lines with notes and other marks of different durations. Each line of the staff and the space between lines are called the first line, the second line, the third line, the fourth line, the fifth line and the first room, the second room, the third room and the fourth room from bottom to top.
If there are not enough lines and spaces, you can add them above or below the staff. The extra line and the extra room are called the first line above, the first room above, the first line below and the first room below, respectively, each representing a sound level. The fixed height of these steps depends on the clef used.
