The children want to perform pantomime, but they don't know how to rehearse. I joined as one of them, and they were very happy and gave me the title of "consultant".
Before the formal rehearsal, I analyzed the roles in the play and the characteristics of different roles with the children. Then, I assigned roles and asked them to recite their lines. As a result, the first joint training surprised me. During the performance, everyone's attention was focused on memorizing the lines and completely ignored the performance. Is there a problem with my guidance? I began to reflect. While understanding the essence of children's performance activities, I try to find suitable and appropriate guidance methods. I took the children to re-understand the contents of the mime "The Adventures of the Ear Brothers". In order to give full play to children's initiative, I guide children to make their own performance plans. The children mentioned in the plan that they should know and be familiar with the content, prepare costumes and props, invite everyone to watch the performance, and so on.
Then, I retired completely and let the children perform in their own way. Although their performance is not so standardized, each role is particularly involved. Their route is uncertain. They say this today and that tomorrow, but the meaning hasn't changed. Unexpectedly, children's creativity is so strong and their language is so rich.
The children carried out the performance plan quite well, the costume props were fully prepared and the performance was in place. They performed a pantomime and won warm applause from other children in the class. After the revision, the children also performed for the children in the whole park.
Children's performance activities are different from adults' drama performances, and they are autonomous, entertaining and playful. In this activity, children can get rid of the shackles of real situations and exert their imagination and creativity. Therefore, teachers need not interfere too much or impose their wishes on children, but should create opportunities and conditions, give children sufficient independent space, pay attention to creating a good psychological atmosphere, and support children's artistic expression and creation. Only in this way can children's artistic creativity be brought into full play.
