Organization of the International Association of Architects
The highest authority of the International Building Association is the member congress, which is held every three years. The number of representatives of each member organization varies from 1 to 1 1, depending on the per capita GNP and the number of architects in the country where the member organization is located. The calculation method is approved by the member congress.

The General Assembly decides the overall policy of the organization and elects the members of the Council and the Executive Committee. The Council consists of four representatives from five regions and nine members of the Executive Board (President, former President, five Vice-Presidents, Secretary General and Treasurer). The secretariat is responsible for the daily affairs of the association, and the funds come from the membership fees paid by members.

At present, there are 23 professional working groups of IAA. Including: building energy, sustainable development of human settlements, architectural heritage, education and cultural space, sports, entertainment and tourism, urban and rural planning, workplace and commercial space, tropical architecture, architecture and forest protection, medical and health architecture, architecture and ecology, religious architecture, human settlement, homeless housing, architectural professional practice (the secretariat work is jointly undertaken by the American-Chinese Architectural Society), medium-sized cities and global urbanization. High-tech facilities, architectural heritage information center, post-war urban reconstruction, international competitions, future architecture, Beijing Road (the secretariat of this working group is located in China Architectural Society).

IAAC is also an A-level advisory body of UNESCO. UIA chapters are divided into three categories: full members (with voting rights), temporary members (without voting rights) and admitted members (without voting rights), and there are no individual members.

Full members (not less than 50) should be the main group of professional architects representing the country, region or territory, and should be able to handle internal affairs and exercise management power independently.

Temporary members: academic organizations in countries, counties and joint regions or territories, with less than 50 architects, not professional academic organizations of a single architect group.

Associate member: other international organizations related to the profession of architects and interested in participating in the activities of the International Building Association. In each country, regional group of countries or regions, only one full member or temporary member is allowed to represent its architects in the International Building Association.

There are 92 member organizations in IAA, including 89 full members, 3 temporary members and 7 associate members, representing nearly 1 10,000 architects in the world. UIA Professional Practice Committee: Since 1990s, the process of economic globalization has extended from trade in goods to trade in services, and the World Trade Organization (WTO) signed the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) in 1994. Since then, international architects' cross-border professional services have been included in the scope of WTO service trade. In order to adapt to this new situation, the International Institute of Architects set up the UIA Professional Practice Committee from 1994, entrusting the Chinese Institute of Architecture and the American Institute of Architects to take charge of this work, with one Chinese and one American as the co-director of the Committee. The first Chinese director was Zhang Qinnan (1994 ~1999), then vice chairman of China Architecture Society. The second director is Professor Xu Anzhi, Vice Chairman of China Architecture Society (1999 ~ 2005). Professor Tsinghua University Zhuang Weimin, executive director of China Architecture Society, officially succeeded Professor Xu Anzhi as the co-director of the Professional Practice Committee of the International Association of Architects at the14th meeting in Washington, DC, USA.

With the active participation and support of the member institutes of the International Association of Architects, the international standard recommended by the International Association of Architects on the Professionalism of Architects, drafted by the Committee, was adopted at the 20th Congress of the International Association of Architects held in June 1996. After consulting the opinions of architectural groups in various countries and revising them, the standard was unanimously agreed at the 2nd1Congress of the International Association of Architects held in Beijing in June, 1999. Since then, architects all over the world have had a professional standard (also known as "international standard recognition book"). Subsequently, the International Association of Architects adopted a series of policy recommendations that matched the international standard accreditation, and played a very important guiding role in the global professional services of architects.

UIA Gold Medal for Outstanding Architectural Achievement, referred to as UIA Gold Medal, was established by the Council of the International Association of Architects in 1984. The gold medal is the highest honor among all awards. The purpose of setting up the Gold Award is to encourage one or a group of architects who have made outstanding contributions in the field of world architecture. The International Association of Architects presented the winner with a pure gold medal engraved with the words "International Association of Architects Gold Award", as well as the name and date of the winner.

In order to promote the development of architectural technology, the International Association of Architects has also set up four professional awards. The professional award is named after the first president of the International Association of Architects to commemorate the former president. These four professional awards are:

Since 1955 joined the IAA, the Chinese Architectural Society has held leadership positions in IAA for many times. Yang Tingbao, president and academician of Nanjing Institute of Technology, 1957- 1963 served as the vice chairman of the International Association for Construction; He Guanggan, vice president and chief engineer of China Institute of Building Research, 1978- 1985, director of the International Association for Construction; Wu Tsinghua University, director of the Department of Architecture, academician and professor, served as director and vice chairman of the International Association for Construction from 1985 to 199 1; Qian Zhou, former vice minister of the Ministry of Construction and academician, 199 1- 1996 served as director of the International Federation for Construction; Ye Rutang, former vice minister of the Ministry of Construction and honorary chairman of China Architectural Society, served as director of the International Architectural Association from 1996 to 2002. Song Chunhua, former vice minister of the Ministry of Construction and chairman of the China Architecture Society, was elected as the director of the International Architecture Association in July 2002, and his term of office was from 2003 to 2005. 65438+ The 20th World Congress of Architects of the International Federation of Construction was held in Beijing from June 23rd to June 26th, 1999, with 668 1 registered participants, including 2 185 overseas representatives and 4,496 domestic representatives (including 2,328 students). The conference published four volumes * * * 16232; 32,670 people attended the conference report and academic discussion; During the conference, * * * held an exhibition 12 and received 92,000 visitors. The Congress published the Beijing Charter, which is the third charter of the international architectural community after the Athens Charter and Machu Picchu Charter, and is of great historical significance.

The 20th World Architects' Congress, a triennial global activity of the International Association of Architects, has come to an end and has gone down in history with its magnificent momentum, fruitful achievements and special status. Those exciting and unforgettable days and nights will remain in the minds of China people forever, which makes people deeply moved. From 1985, UIA VIII 15, China Architecture Society applied for the first time to attend the conference, and it has been 14 years since then. The rapid development and unprecedented construction scale of China provide a rare opportunity and environment for the growth of architects in China, and also lay a solid foundation for the success of this conference. The preparation of the conference lasted for six years, which condensed the silent cultivation and selfless dedication of hundreds of staff members and the painstaking research and unremitting pursuit of a large number of well-known and unfamiliar experts and scholars. With the care of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the guidance and support of relevant ministries and commissions and the Beijing Municipal Government, and the help and enthusiastic participation of all sectors of society, especially the national architectural community, the Chinese Architectural Society finally completed this glorious historical task. After the conference, comments from all sides followed, including congratulations, praises, thanks, complaints and criticisms. What is certain, however, is that under the premise that the state basically does not invest money and the academic and scientific research foundation is relatively weak, the conference can achieve such a degree, and it is also infinitely gratifying to be rated as "the best conference of the International Association of Architects" by the senior officials of the International Association of Architects. China's efforts paid off. China architects can finally hold their heads high. As a member of the world architecture family, China not only made its own contribution to the accumulation and development of the global architecture treasure house, but also wrote a chapter with the characteristics of the times in the history of the times to welcome the second millennium.
