The Department of Foreign Languages mainly recruits four-year undergraduate students and three-year junior college students majoring in full-time English education, and mainly trains English teachers for universities, technical secondary schools and middle schools. Courses offered include basic English, advanced English, English pronunciation, English listening, English writing, English reading, English grammar, audio-visual speaking, interpretation, translation and other professional skills courses; Offering professional knowledge courses such as English literature, American literature, academic thesis writing, general situation of English-speaking countries, and selected reading of British and American newspapers; It also offers theoretical courses such as English lexicology, English linguistics, English grammar, English teaching methods, pragmatics, sociolinguistics and English testing. There are Japanese, French, Russian and other second foreign languages.

The Department of Foreign Languages attaches great importance to academic research, strengthens its ties with universities at home and abroad, and has established long-term friendly cooperative relations with Rio Grande University in the United States. At present, there are 12 teachers in our department who are receiving graduate education from this school. Famous scholars at home and abroad are often invited for academic exchanges. Famous scholars are hired as professors and come to give lectures regularly. Dr. Liu Jun, a tenured professor at the University of California, and Ken Dillard, a lecturer and doctor of education at the University of Cincinnati, have led many American college students' educational exchange delegations to our department for exchange visits.

The Foreign Languages Department is rigorous in scientific research, strict in teaching management, and pays attention to the construction of study style, and the teaching quality is constantly improving. Since its establishment, the department has sent a large number of qualified English talents to the society. Among them, more than 50 people have been admitted to Peking University, Foreign Affairs University, Renmin University, Central Party School, Fudan University, xi International Studies University, Northwest University, Shaanxi Normal University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi Jiaotong University and other schools to pursue doctoral and master's degrees. A large number of graduates work in education, party and government, economy and other fronts all over the country, many of them are promoted to senior titles, and many of them hold various levels.

In recent years, according to the market demand for talents and the idea of cultivating compound "talents" based on professional education, the Department of Foreign Languages has adjusted and reformed the course content structure, and formed a curriculum system with wide knowledge and strong adaptability, which requires students not only to learn professional courses well, but also to pay attention to the improvement of ideological and moral cultivation and social practice ability, and has achieved remarkable results.
