The director of the laboratory is Associate Professor Jiang Xufeng (Ph.D.) from the Advertising Department of School of Journalism and Communication, Nanjing University, and Professor Zheng Xin (Ph.D.) from the Advertising Department is the deputy director of the laboratory. Professor Du Junfei (Ph.D.) was appointed as academic consultant, Professor Zheng (Ph.D.) as chief researcher, and Associate Professor Chao Naipeng (Ph.D.) and Associate Professor Hu Yiqing (Ph.D.) were appointed as the first batch of researchers.
The fusion laboratory will focus on the theory and practice of applied communication, aiming to integrate all kinds of academic resources inside and outside the college, promote scientific research in the field of applied communication in China, and actively provide academic services in various fields of applied communication for all sectors of society.
The Fusion Laboratory mainly carries out research in two directions: "government influence" and "media influence", and raises nearly 2 million yuan for scientific research. Subjects undertaken include:
1. An Empirical Study on the Influence of Mainstream Media and the Influence Construction of Nanjing Daily (in cooperation with Nanjing Daily),
2. Research on reforming and improving communication services for agriculture, rural areas and farmers (in cooperation with Jiangdu Municipal Government),
3. Dissemination of government image (cooperation with Yangzhou Municipal Government),
4, civilized city marketing communication planning and promotion (in cooperation with the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department),
5. Yangzhou Jiangdu New District image building and cultural communication (in cooperation with the Propaganda Department of Jiangdu Municipal Committee) and other projects.
The laboratory will compile the academic journal China Applied Communication Research, which mainly introduces and publishes academic papers in the field of applied communication at home and abroad. In terms of hardware, the laboratory has 24 telephone survey systems and multimedia focus interview conference systems, which can undertake all kinds of communication empirical research work such as social survey and communication effect survey. The Institute of Government Journalism of Nanjing University is jointly established by the Propaganda Department of Nanjing Municipal Committee, the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University and the International Communication Research Center of Tsinghua University. It was formally established on June 29th, 2006.
Purpose of the Institute: In order to implement the efforts of the CPC Central Committee to build a harmonious society, strengthen the construction of the Party's ruling ability, especially to deeply study the government's ruling ability and the media literacy of state employees under multimedia integration, and fully realize the great goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way, the Institute is jointly established by the three parties in line with the concepts of * * * common development, complementary advantages, financial resources and education.
College system: School of Government Journalism of Nanjing University is a permanent scientific research institution of Nanjing University. In addition to full-time researchers, the institute will also hire well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad as part-time professors or visiting researchers. The institute puts forward the annual work plan at the beginning of each year. According to the plan, the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee gives financial support to the project and reviews the work plan at the end of each year.
The main responsibilities of the institute:
1), academic research: the main research direction of this institute is government journalism, including government spokesman system, public crisis management, government image management, and civil servants' media literacy. The institute will carry out special research, hold academic seminars, publish a series of monographs, and publish and translate works on government news at home and abroad.
2) Postgraduate education: Since 2007, the Institute has set up the research direction of government journalism in the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University.
3) Personnel training: Under the guidance of the Propaganda Department of Nanjing Municipal Committee, the College will hold short-term government news training courses inside and outside the province from time to time.
4) Academic exchanges at home and abroad: With a broad academic vision, the Institute will vigorously expand academic exchanges at home and abroad and promote academic research and personnel training.
Colleges in the construction of theoretical system of government journalism: government governance and public relations management; Government image management; Media literacy of civil servants; Professional ethics and code of conduct of civil servants; Many achievements have been made in project management. For example, led by Professor Zheng Xin, the media literacy of Nanjing departmental cadres was investigated. In order to broaden international horizons and strengthen exchanges with foreign counterparts. In August, 2007, relevant personnel of the Government Journalism Institute, together with experts from Nanjing Daily and Nanjing TV Station, visited Oxford University, Harvard University and British and American media for academic exchange. At the same time, he also conducted a two-day training at Duke University to discuss with famous American communication scholars.
