Characteristics of steel truss bridge
Steel truss bridge is composed of truss members. Although the whole steel truss bridge is mainly subjected to bending and shearing, each truss member mainly bears axial force. Compared with the solid web beam, the sparse web member is used to replace the whole web member, which saves steel and reduces the structural weight. In addition, because the steel consumption of web members is less than that of solid web beams, steel truss beams can be made higher, thus having greater rigidity and greater spanning capacity. However, the steel truss beam has many members and joints, complicated structure and labor-consuming production.
