I. Social sciences
I chose to enter the social science experimental class because it is a combination of arts and sciences, which is just suitable for science students like me who are not very good at science. Even though I have done relevant research, I am still asking the question "What does social science do?" Until the beginning of school, I even had the idea of changing majors. However, through the two introductory courses offered in the first semester, I came into contact with a series of professional contents of Information Management College, Social College, Law School and Government Management College. Although I have learned a lot, I am also very tired, but the advantage is that I am more aware of my inner desire and my own advantages and disadvantages. Compared with the hesitation in the past, I don't regret choosing the social science experimental class at this moment.
1. School of Social Sciences
I mainly took sociology courses. Before the course Introduction to Social Science started, I was almost confused and desperate about the future of the university, because I was not interested in any major. However, after the beginning of this course, two professors from the Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. Zhai and Mr. Zhai, opened the door of social science to me in a peaceful or humorous way, which particularly aroused my interest in sociology. Later, Teacher Lu Yuan's Introduction to Sociology was more in-depth and concrete, and it was cut from many angles, which inspired us to think about society. Every time I feel sleepy before class, I am not sleepy at all after sociology class! )
Sociology provides a unique perspective to observe and explain society, and I find it is such a perspective that I have been longing for for for a long time. I have always wanted to observe my world from the perspective of sociology and study the relationship between people and groups. The sociology major of Nanjing University ranks among the best in China, with both academic inheritance and innovation based on localization, and the quality of education is beyond doubt. One year later, my feeling is that even if one does not intend to take sociology as the future development direction, just learning the ideas and perspectives of sociology has benefited a lot.
2. School of Information Management
For me, the course of Information Management College seems a little less interesting, because I often have to deal with mathematics and computers, and I also have a lot of relatively boring theoretical knowledge. But in the process of dealing, you can also do some very interesting things. For example, in the introductory class of freshmen last semester, we made a survey on "Why did you come to Nantah" as the material for root-seeking analysis. In the process of coding one by one, it is really interesting to look at the stories written by different people, summarize and record their similarities, and look at these stories from a sociological point of view.
? In fact, everyone needs to write a small composition of more than 500 words. )
It was this experience that led me to the direction of information management. But in the second semester, I found that the course became more "hard-core" and learning theoretical knowledge was really boring. In some classes, we participate with senior students in Grade Two. We will find it a bit difficult because of the lack of certain mathematical foundation and background knowledge. Fortunately, the teacher in class is an extremely serious and responsible teacher, who would rather slow down the progress of the course and let us understand. After class, he will seriously answer the questions of everyone in the group. I met many challenges in practice, but I also learned a lot. From the professional ranking, Nanjing University's information management and information system, library science and archival science are all in the top ranks, and the future employment direction is also very broad.
Second, the humanities
Out of interest, I took many courses in humanities across majors. The liberal arts major has always been the advantage of Nanjing University. There are not only masters here, but also a strong humanistic atmosphere. As a student, my most intuitive feeling is the elegant and peaceful temperament of teachers and the ideas contained in the course.
At first, I wanted to take the course of the Academy of Fine Arts, but I didn't get it. I chose the reading guide of Chinese and foreign philosophical masterpieces. I remember the first class, the teacher discussed "science" with us. At that time, I didn't agree with the teacher's point of view and even resisted this discussion; Then I started talking about the Republic, and I almost fell asleep. I didn't listen to several classes well. Actually, it's not about the lecture. As long as I open my philosophy book, I will probably fall asleep. Later, I felt a little ashamed of my laissez-faire attitude and decided to try to listen no matter how difficult it was. As a result, I feel that my inner world has been opened by philosophy. Although I spent several sleepless nights writing a book report on philosophy, and even said "I'll never touch philosophy again", I thought about it when I went home on holiday, but I still took the philosophy book home ... (How delicious! )
? According to the original intention of this photo, it is to bid farewell to philosophy.
And the teacher's self-restraint and the enthusiasm of my classmates also made me respect. Both teachers are serious about discussing ideological things with us. Last class, a teacher said that you will also encounter many "water classes" in the philosophy department, but as long as I come to class, I guarantee that the quality of the class will not be bad. Students also have great enthusiasm for philosophy. Before this, I have never seen many people spontaneously discuss philosophical issues in a course group until midnight. From their enthusiasm, I can see how attractive the philosophy department of Nanjing University is. In addition, the ranking of philosophy major in Nanjing University is quite good.
In fact, looking at the humanities and social sciences majors of Nanjing University, the rankings are not bad. In the courses of new biography, history and other colleges, I also met teachers who brought light to my life. When faced with the question of "is it worth it", I always have to weigh the reality and the future, and struggle repeatedly between interest and employment. But in my humble opinion, a person's sense of gain in a certain major is at least the driving force to support his/her progress. For me, with interest, a good teacher and the inspiration of the depth and breadth of thought, such a major is worth reading.
