First, don't kill.

There are three conditions for the establishment of killing karma, namely, the desire to kill, the line to kill, and the death (or killing) of being killed. If you just kill your heart and don't kill it, killing your heart is not good, but it doesn't constitute a killing industry; If there is a desire to kill, but the other person is not killed or injured, it is not a killing industry, but this behavior itself is not good. From the point of view of precepts, it is breaking the precepts. If there is no intention to kill, there is a line of killing, which leads to the death of the victim? For example, if you drive and accidentally run over an ant on the road, because you just drive and don't care about the life and death of the ant, that is, you can't bear to kill it, so it's not a violation of the precepts. Of course, I'm not encouraging people to drive to kill ants, but I must be as careful as possible, take good care of all creatures and avoid crime. Because you are still guilty, you will be punished, but it is only small, such as being accidentally stepped on.

Killing includes all attacks that hurt people or animals. Because these acts will cause great hatred, and they are also disliked by all the good gods of Buddha and Bodhisattva. For example, if you don't kill anyone, but you cripple him, even paralyze him, blind him, or disfigure him, then these actions may be more serious than killing him, because in these cases, the other person may have more pain and hatred for you than killing him. Considering that even insulting others may be severely punished, this is not allowed by Buddhist precepts, and hurting behavior is not allowed by precepts.

Second, don't steal the ring.

If you don't steal, quit first, which means you don't sneak around and rob without knowing. Secondly, all kinds of illegal profit-making behaviors belong to theft, and some are even more serious than simple theft. So this commandment is not necessarily as easy to follow as it seems. Let's analyze it in detail.

1, if you find something on the road and see no one around, take it home. Is stealing a crime?

If there is really no owner, take it away without committing theft. But usually, an item is not really ownerless, just where the owner put it for a period of time. For such items, it is better to put them there and keep them until the owner comes back to get them. If no one comes to pick it up after waiting for a while, one option is to leave, and the other option is to take it away in good faith because you want to return it to its original owner and are afraid that others will take it away after leaving, and then try to find the owner. If you can't find the owner in the end, you'd better turn it over to the state treasury, otherwise you can use it yourself, but as long as you know the owner, you must return it immediately.

As for if you find something and know who the owner is and don't return it, it is more clear that you have committed theft.

The crime of picking up things that are considered ownerless is less than the crime of stealing directly, and as a result, you are easy to lose things.

2, operating illegal industries for profit, such as selling fake and shoddy products, or gambling, drug trafficking, etc. Although it is not direct theft, it is also theft.

Selling fake and shoddy products not only violates the precepts of stealing and lying, but also bears the responsibility of damaging people's body and mind if selling fake and shoddy products.

For example, if the food sold has pesticides exceeding the standard, or sick meat, or antibiotics are used, or the clean water sold is not clean, these sellers will bear the crime, and the quality inspectors who take bribes and bend the law will also bear the crime.

All acts of obtaining ill-gotten gains through fraud are prohibited.

Drug trafficking, because drug abuse not only urges people to cross the body, but also may feel hell after death, so drug traffickers may be rewarded.

Although the tobacco industry is a legal industry, it is also a very bad industry, because smoking is also very bad for people's health, and it is likely to feel hell after death. This point will be detailed in the following paragraph "Don't give up drinking".

3. Tax evasion is also a crime of theft. Stealing a lot of other people's money also hurts the interests of many others.

The size of his criminal career should be analyzed in detail. If the tax system itself is unreasonable in the era of countries where taxes are too high, and even some farmers have to starve to death when they pay taxes, it should be that those who make such unreasonable tax laws are guilty, while farmers who refuse to pay taxes are not guilty. If the tax system is normal, then tax evasion is of course stealing.

4. Corruption and bribery also constitute theft. Moreover, this kind of theft is often accompanied by many other crimes, so the harm is often greater and the consequences will be greater.

The size of the crime should also be analyzed in detail. If an official has made a great contribution to one thing without any reasonable reward, such as working hard on a very profitable project, or innovatively using a good strategy, so as to obtain a lot of extra income for state-owned enterprises or local finance, such as 654.38 billion yuan, but according to the policy, the reward is very small, only 65.438 million yuan, so it is worthwhile to earn some money for himself. If not, for most corruption, it is grand theft.

In particular, some people damage the interests of others because of corruption, such as misappropriating project funds or accepting bribes from projects, which leads to bean curd residue projects and eventually kills people; Or food inspectors corrupt and bend the law, releasing unqualified purified water, resulting in kidney damage and poor health of drinkers. These crimes are all on him.

In life, there are many details related to the commandment of not stealing.

For example: talk about private affairs on the phone of the unit; Do private affairs during working hours; Print personal documents with company printing paper. These are theft in principle. Of course, it belongs to petty theft, and you can give the unit some corresponding compensation.

The fundamental purpose of abstaining from theft is to make people less greedy. Under the condition that everyone has greed, people have self-control, pursue reasonable wealth, and avoid conflicts between people and criminal karma. Therefore, economic problems like this are very complicated and need specific analysis, so it is difficult to simply judge Buddhism.

Secular law is heteronomy, pays attention to objective justice, judges according to the observable situation in this world, and emphasizes a kind of rule justice; The discipline of Buddhism is self-discipline, which should be judged according to all the factors of six sentient beings and three generations of cause and effect. It emphasizes absolute justice (or ultimate justice). Different in nature, our methods of observing and analyzing problems are bound to be different.

For true Buddhist practitioners, to avoid creating bad karma in this complex economic environment, we must set strict standards for ourselves. Adhere to the principle of goodness and do not commit any theft.

Because any theft, on the one hand, may be rewarded as a hungry ghost, on the other hand, will eventually be returned. So it is always not cost-effective. Just as the reward received by giving is often much higher than the amount given, the amount to be returned after stealing is often much higher than the amount stolen.

Especially don't steal temple property. That may be the reason for planting hell. There is a saying in the Tibetan scriptures that if you give to Buddhism, "if you give something, you get a reward." So if you steal Buddhist property, how much should you pay back? If you don't pay it back, you may go to hell. It is said that a monk succeeded in practicing. When he approached enlightenment, he saw a space full of salt. Later, he learned that it was because he used to treat the salt in the temple as medicine for himself, and finally returned a lot of salt in the temple.

The fruit of theft

The direct result of stealing is poverty. Because others have taken other people's things, and the god of all beings knows everything, others still want you to return them. There is a saying in Tao Te Ching: "If you want to take it, you must give it first." If you don't take it, you must return it later. Therefore, giving first and then getting is the right way.

Judging from a person's life, it may be that one person always cheats and obtains ill-gotten wealth, but he is rich all his life, while another person works and lives honestly, but he is poor all his life; However, from the perspective of eternal knowledge of all beings, everything will eventually be balanced.

The result of stealing after death is to become a hungry ghost. Although it looks better than going to hell, it is also very painful. I always feel hungry, but I have no food to eat. Even if I find food, it will turn into fire in my mouth and I can't eat it. In fact, ghosts don't eat and starve to death. The reason why they feel hungry and always want to eat is caused by the karmic habit of gluttony in the past.

If stealing is a serious crime, or even seriously hurting others, you still have to go to hell. The reason for stealing is greed. If you are too greedy, you may feel a cold hell.

As mentioned above, "don't steal" means:

1, unknown robbery, secretly stealing;

2. Don't get all the illegitimate profits such as cheating, tax evasion, corruption and illegal industries;

Third, don't abstain from prostitution.

Abstinence from prostitution is usually interpreted as not having sex with anyone except a married spouse. Of course, I just think so. But from the essence of this proverb, there are still many details worth analyzing.

For example, according to the local folk customs at that time, polygamy or polyandry was justified. Is the marriage relationship and sexual behavior in this case justified? Another example is whether extramarital sex with the consent of the spouse and the consent of all three parties is adultery? For another example, in a marriage relationship, can you be unrestrained, even if you indulge too much, you will not be punished? For another example, many people can't find a lifelong partner for a while and are not married, so is adultery completely prohibited?

These are all important questions with practical significance, which cannot be avoided and must be answered.

To answer these questions, we should make a profound analysis: Why is lewdness bad? Or, why debauchery is not good.

From the purely human world, adultery itself is only selfish, not harmful. Even if it is an extramarital affair, even if many people are promiscuous, even if it is abnormal, even if it is gay, as long as all parties are willing, why not? As for harming others because of it, it is a crime of harming others, not a crime of sex itself.

For example, extramarital affairs, if the three parties agree, is it okay? Or premarital sex, as long as both parties are willing, ok?

For participants who are willing to have sex. The only possible mistake is being envied by others. But we generally believe that jealousy is wrong and should not be protected by public morality. Because human morality can't protect jealousy, otherwise human beings can't make progress. Don't talk about sex Any happy person may be jealous, even a hungry person will be jealous when he sees others eating a bowl of rice. Is that why no one is allowed to eat happily in front of hungry people? So jealousy is a negative desire that social morality does not support at any time.

If some people are jealous, for example, if they can't get it, they hope others can't get it; Or you have an unhappy sex life, and you want others to have an unhappy sex life; Or if you don't have sex, you hope others don't have sex either; Some people even dare to ask others to abstain from sex, even if they are not abstinent. I said this is not "asceticism", but "forbidding others to be lascivious"; I don't even want to read these remarks that persuade people to abstain from sex for personal gain and hurt his purpose.

Or someone advised people to abstain from prostitution. Although they are well-intentioned, they just follow other people's advice. It is not clear why they persuade people to give up prostitution. Although this is ok, it is not enough.

Fourth, don't swear.

Lies include lies, swearing words (that is, swearing words), two tongues (also called lies, that is, cutting people on both sides and alienating each other) and slang (that is, obscene language or other indecent language).

Don't underestimate lies. If they are serious, they will go to hell.

The main lies are: defaming the three treasures of Buddhism and Buddhism; Unconfirmed evidence; Perjury.

The main reason for denigrating Sambo, a Buddhist monk, may be to prevent others from becoming Buddhists. When people practice Buddhism, they can gain high energy and finally enjoy endless happiness. Do you have to pay the corresponding price if you break it?

Unconfirmed evidence means that Buddhist practitioners say that they have obtained some kind of karma when they clearly have not obtained it; Or you obviously don't have it, but you say you have some magical power; Its purpose is to make people worship him and get rich support. This is an act that seriously damages Buddhism.

Unconfirmed evidence can also be said to be part of perjury To be a false witness in Buddhism, for example, to say that you saw it and experienced a miracle when you clearly didn't see it and didn't experience it. Although the purpose may be to make others have confidence in Buddhism, it is still absolutely impossible and still a serious discipline. Buddhism is an absolutely true law, and it is illegal to try to convince people with false miracles.

Five, don't drink.

It is generally believed that killing, stealing, debauchery and licentiousness in the five precepts are sexual precepts, while alcohol is a cover-up, that is, to prevent crimes under temptation. Because alcohol can promiscuous, drinking makes you confused, self-discipline is not strong, and it is easy to break other precepts.

But my analysis believes that abstinence from alcohol and abstinence from lust have the same spiritual significance except the meaning of "abstinence" mentioned above. That is to say, in addition to the known physical harm, drinking will also confuse people's spirituality, especially practitioners must absolutely avoid drinking.
