The tamping machine is used in the construction of new railway lines, the screening operation and line maintenance operation of overhauling old lines, and the track is shifted, leveled, rammed and ballasted, so that the track direction and the level of left and right lines meet the requirements of design standards or maintenance regulations, the density of ballast beds is improved, the stability of tracks is increased, and the safe operation of trains is ensured. The tamping machine can carry out road leveling, leveling or tamping alone, but in order to improve the quality of operation, it is generally a comprehensive operation of road allocation, road leveling and tamping at the same time.

At present, the world-famous companies that produce tamping machines are Plasait Pottery Company in Seoul, Austria, MATISA Company in Switzerland and TamPer Company in the United States. There are many types of tamping vehicles they produce, including the following.
