An analysis of contemporary college students' national defense concept;

Since the reform and opening up, in order to stimulate the patriotic enthusiasm of college students and strengthen their national concept, ordinary colleges and universities have devoted themselves to the upsurge of national defense education. Although they have gained some experience, the effect is not obvious. Most college students lack national defense knowledge, national security awareness and national responsibility awareness, which has a negative impact on the development of national defense education and the cultivation of college students' national defense concept.

Focusing on the reality of contemporary college students' national defense concept, this paper puts forward some countermeasures on how to strengthen college students' national defense concept for reference.

With the deepening of reform and opening up, national defense education in colleges and universities has become increasingly standardized, and military training and military education have been carried out simultaneously, and certain achievements have been made.

However, what is worrying is that college students' national defense concept is still very weak, they don't pay enough attention to the study of national defense knowledge, they don't form a certain sense of national security and national responsibility, and they can't fully realize the importance of national defense security to national stability and unity. Based on the actual investigation results, this paper analyzes the present situation of contemporary college students' national defense concept, and puts forward relevant suggestions on how to strengthen college students' national defense concept.

First, the current situation of contemporary college students' national defense concept.

(1) Lack of national defense knowledge.

National defense policy, national defense laws and regulations and national defense history are important components of national defense knowledge. Understanding China's national defense policies, national defense laws and regulations and necessary national defense history is very important for college students to analyze national defense issues from a deeper and higher perspective, understand national policies and cultivate their interest in national defense learning.

However, contemporary college students know little about national defense. For example, most students don't know what "active defense" strategy is and what China's national defense strategy is. Have not come into contact with national defense-related laws and regulations such as People's Republic of China (PRC) National Defense Law and People's Republic of China (PRC) Military Service Law; I am not familiar with the history of war after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and I am not familiar with China's modern national defense crisis and major conflicts.

(2) Poor cognitive attitude towards military courses.

Carrying out military courses in colleges and universities, on the one hand, is to educate college students in national defense, so that they can master some necessary military theories and skills; On the other hand, it is to cultivate college students' national defense concept and national security significance, constantly strengthen their patriotism and collectivism concepts, and strengthen their organizational discipline, so as to improve their comprehensive quality.

However, after investigation, many students think it is unnecessary to carry out this course, and they have no special interest in military training and national defense education. They think that military training is tiring and national defense knowledge is boring.

(3) The awareness of national defense security and responsibility is weak.

Many college students have not fully realized the importance of national defense security and have not formed a good sense of national defense security. Although they have a certain understanding of some recent major events in the country and the world, many people think that it is a problem that national leaders should consider and has little to do with individuals.

Although many college students are willing to join the army to serve the motherland and safeguard national security and stability, some college students still think that joining the army is a job with "money" and the motivation for joining the army is not pure.

Second, how to strengthen college students' national defense concept.

How to cultivate and strengthen the national defense concept of contemporary college students is an important issue that ordinary colleges and universities must pay attention to. In view of the reality of the above college students' national defense concept, the author puts forward the following suggestions for reference.

(1) unify thoughts and strengthen the concept of national defense.

The concept of national defense belongs to spiritual strength, and it is a concentrated expression of citizens' patriotism, national responsibility and revolutionary heroism. The concept of national defense will spread and popularize through certain forms, and finally penetrate into the minds of the broad masses of the people and transform into great combat effectiveness and productivity.

Contemporary college students are the successors of socialist modernization of the motherland and the hope of the future of the motherland. Therefore, we must unify our thinking, strengthen their understanding of the concept of national defense, educate them on national defense, cultivate their awareness of national security and national hardship, and help them form a correct world outlook.

Outlook on life and values, constantly learning military knowledge, enhancing the concept of national defense, cultivating college students' revolutionary optimism, strengthening their organizational discipline, and laying a solid foundation for their all-round development.

(2) Seriously implement and offer military courses.

On the basis of the original military courses, we should further incorporate military courses into the teaching plan of colleges and universities, focus on military training and military theory courses, conscientiously implement teaching activities such as teaching time, credit setting, teacher arrangement and examination evaluation, and constantly improve the teaching management mode of military courses.

Because there are great differences between military courses and general public courses in teaching methods, teaching time and teaching place, if the management system of public courses is followed, the teaching plan of colleges and universities will be chaotic.

Therefore, colleges and universities should strengthen the construction of military curriculum system, improve teaching content, ensure teaching time, train military teachers, improve military assessment system, improve college students' national defense concept and realize the standardization of national defense education in colleges and universities according to the relevant provisions of the Military Curriculum Syllabus of Ordinary Colleges and Universities.

(3) Take various measures according to local conditions.

To strengthen the education of college students' national defense concept, we should not only learn through military training and military theory courses, but also take various ways to carry out the education of college students' national defense concept according to local conditions and the development of colleges and universities.

If there are two types of national defense education: compulsory courses and elective courses, college students can freely choose their favorite national defense education courses, learn military knowledge, cultivate patriotism and collectivism, cultivate the excellent quality of hard work and improve organizational discipline in a teaching environment with a certain military atmosphere.

Another example is to fully tap the military defense knowledge in other professional courses, find the combination point between other professional courses and national defense military courses, and subtly infiltrate the concept of national defense into the thoughts of college students.

For example, various lectures, reports, military associations and other activities can be held to fully mobilize college students' interest in national defense military knowledge and meet the needs of different college students; Or organize college students to visit national defense education bases, revolutionary memorial halls, red tourist attractions, etc. And encourage college students to participate in activities to popularize national defense concept education.

In a word, peace and development are the themes of our times. At present, international relations are harmonious and domestic stability and unity exist. However, under the seemingly peaceful background, there are many unknown crises.

China's colleges and universities actively carry out national defense concept education activities, which can not only increase college students' national defense knowledge and enhance their sense of national crisis, but also cultivate their sense of national security and national responsibility, and make contributions to the peaceful development of the country and even the world.
