It is the hub station of Qingyan Railway and the intermediate station of Qing Ji high-speed railway. The station started construction on 20 16, but it has not been officially completed and put into production. It is estimated that the construction of the main structure will be completed by the end of 2020 and put into production on 202 1.
Hongdao Station has a total construction area of about 232,000 square meters, of which the total area of the station building is about 70,000 square meters. The whole station building is in the shape of "I", including the station building complex, passenger activity platform, travel service mezzanine and platform canopy. The building of Hongdao Station faces Jiaozhou Bay, so a sightseeing platform is designed on the south side of the station for passengers to watch the sea view. The station adopts the image of "surging waves" and the design concept is "dreaming of waves, watching the sea and listening to waves", which fully conforms to the temperament of Qingdao coastal city. The waves in the station buildings on the north and south sides adopt hyperboloid aluminum curtain wall, including two large waves and eight small waves. The elevation of the large spray is more than 60 meters, which is equivalent to the height of 20 floors. When completed, Hongdao Station will be the first seascape high-speed railway station in China.
