He taught himself a foreign language, took part in the German class of Shanghai International Studies University, and successively translated foreign language works such as The Complete Book of Osteopathy and Osteopathy. When rescuing critically ill patients, he often stays at the patient's bedside for days and nights, and is praised by patients and their families. At his initiative, the Orthopaedics Department of the Long March Hospital first launched a family bed in Shanghai, and used the rest time to visit patients' homes. After seven days and seven nights, the surgical team successfully carried out such difficult operations as craniotomy to remove hematoma, pneumothorax sealing, laparotomy, hemicolectomy, small intestine resection and anastomosis, liver repair, and exploration and repair of major vascular injuries in limbs under field conditions, so that 82% of the wounded passed by the surgical team were treated surgically, and the operation rate was twice as high as the standard set by the superior. Due to the long journey, excessive fatigue and irregular diet, his condition became more and more serious and the number of bloody stools increased. He continued to work by taking a lot of drugs until he was ordered to quit. The surgical team led by him successfully completed the arduous task of treating the wounded in four months of continuous work. After the surgical team won, he was admitted to the hospital. After examination, he was diagnosed with colon cancer and had metastasized. Faced with the threat of cancer, he said frankly: "If party member is alive, he must work for the Party. If he has cancer, he must seize the time to fight for the cause of the party.
