As the saying goes, "Food is the most important thing for the people". China on the Tip of the Tongue, which was broadcast some time ago, brought me great emotional experience. It vividly shows China people's pursuit of food and life, full of historical details, and hides the most precious wisdom of ancient people in simple life.
Our diet is different from western fast food hamburgers and steak salads. It seems that we spend more time on food, just like stewing meat, which is of course fundamentally different from geographical environment and natural resources. But I believe that this feeling and polishing of life flows in our blood.
Not fast food, but slow taste and perception of life. After looking up relevant information, I want to talk about my understanding and feelings about the ancient food culture in China in combination with my own life experience and cultural cognition.
I think the ancient food culture can be summarized by four words: "essence, beauty, affection and courtesy", which is of course applicable to the present food culture, but compared with modern times, the ancient food culture has more simple beauty and charm. First of all, "essence" is a summary of the inherent quality of China's food culture, and exquisiteness and fine products are the most general summary of this cultural spirit. Small-scale farmers are self-sufficient, which embodies the word "essence" from meat dishes, cooking, ingredients to cooking. "Beauty" means "color, fragrance and taste are all available". Its beauty and collocation show that the aesthetic characteristics of ancient food culture are the perfect unity of the form and content of China's food activities, and even bring people aesthetic pleasure and spiritual enjoyment. "Love", eating and drinking, is actually the medium of emotional communication between people. Friends on and off, send a welcome. Diet often carries too much emotional communication and expression. "Rite" refers to the etiquette of eating activities. The first is the "rules" of eating, seating, cloth dishes and so on. They all show the etiquette of respecting the old and loving the young, which is between people; On the personal level, for example, in the Book of Rites, it is mentioned that don't sigh when eating, and don't make too much noise when chewing food to show personal cultivation.
Food culture is more than just eating. Diet culture is a cultural system that combines habit and creativity in many aspects.
I think it is very interesting that in the west, we can evaluate a person with different "constellations", such as "Virgo", and we will say, "Wow, this person is probably a perfectionist!" In China, however, we can judge a person by region. What is said here is the local cuisine that has been formed since ancient times and passed down to this day. Shandong cuisine, Sichuan cuisine, Guangdong cuisine and Fujian cuisine are all representative cuisines handed down from ancient times. As the saying goes, "relying on mountains to eat, relying on water to eat" has different special dietary needs due to different regional dietary groups. The regionality of food culture is formed because of the long-term regional running-in and transformation. But this inverse proposition may not be true. Like Russia, it has a vast territory, but it is not as colorful as our food culture. It blends in differences and has its own characteristics in integration. Because people in different areas of ancient China had different dietary backgrounds, their personality differences showed different dietary preferences. For example, Sichuan cuisine is mainly the local cuisine of Sichuan and Chongqing. Because the ancient residents of Sichuan were hospitable and hot-tempered, their own food was spicy and colorful.
We always say that delicious food has the function of "curing diseases". Yes, it is not only a process of filling hunger, but also an aesthetic experience and spiritual expression, from which the unique cultural significance belonging to our Chinese nation and the wisdom and taste of life passed down from generation to generation by the ancients are precipitated. It seems to tell us that no matter how fast life is, there is always a time to slow down. This is a reward for yourself and a taste of life.
