Reminder: Self-taught candidates cannot apply for a degree by falsifying thesis data.
Beijing Examination News (Reporter Ma Haili) Some self-taught candidates are now entering the stage of thesis counseling and topic selection. The reporter learned from the lecture on thesis counseling held by the Department of Psychology of Peking University not long ago that once a candidate is found to have plagiarized or forged a thesis in his defense, he will be disqualified from writing a thesis according to the relevant regulations of the Beijing Self-taught Examination and lose the opportunity to apply for a degree.

Li Tonggui, director of the training department of the Department of Psychology of Peking University, said that in recent years, there are always some candidates who failed to pass the defense because they forged papers. Some candidates thought they could fool the teacher, but they gave away the clues when defending the paper. It is reported that the Defense Committee is composed of domain experts, who deal with data all day and are very sensitive to relevant data. When defending a thesis, once candidates are suspected of falsifying data, they will be found out.

Academic papers are most taboo against plagiarism and forgery. If a candidate downloads someone else's thesis from the Internet in order to find a job, the tutor will report to the municipal self-study examination office and cancel his qualification to do the thesis. The candidate will not be able to graduate normally and apply for a bachelor's degree. Therefore, candidates should not take chances.

Li Tonggui suggested that candidates should combine the topic of the thesis with their daily work as much as possible. Don't be a literature review topic. In the process of thesis writing, it is indeed feasible for candidates to go to the library to find documents. Books and magazines can only be used for reference, and collecting information online is not reliable.

In the process of writing a thesis, candidates must pay attention to the conciseness and rigor of the language. At the same time, academic papers do not need flowery rhetoric and excessive revision, which is also a problem that candidates need to pay attention to.

It is understood that thesis writing can be roughly divided into eight stages: topic selection, tutor determination, literature review, data collection, data processing, thesis writing, thesis submission and thesis defense.
