English EAP course refers to academic English course, that is, English for academic purposes. This is an English as a second language course for international students who are going to American universities or graduate schools. As a bridge course before academic courses, it aims to improve English listening, speaking, reading and writing ability and lay a good and solid foundation for professional courses. Extended material academic English refers to English related to medical treatment, science, engineering and technology. It mainly reflects its academic nature, which is often related to some theories (such as papers), and appears in the lives of college students, professors and experts, mostly English related to science, engineering and technology. The main difference between academic English and everyday English is that academic English needs rigorous and logical English expressions to describe a phenomenon, a process or how something is formed and operated, or to explain an academic concept. Most academic English is used to express and explain the relationship between ideas. Although words and language may be more complicated than everyday English, the goal of a good scholar is actually to explain a problem or concept as clearly, accurately and simply as possible.

Compared with daily language or literary writing, academic English has its own characteristics in terms of words, article structure and emotion.

1. Usually use formal and impersonal writing styles.
