1, don't waste time looking for "master"
Let's talk about a dusty past. When I decided to start publishing World Network Manager, I was ordered to find a senior media person as the editor-in-chief. I spent about half a year, contacted many senior media people and said a lot of good things. As a result, no one wants to work in such an unborn magazine. In the end, the boss had no choice but to put me on top and make me the executive editor. Later, as you may know, the development of online merchants in the world is not bad, and I, the executive editor, have overfulfilled my task.
For an entrepreneurial team, I don't think we should waste time looking for senior people. On the one hand, no real senior people are willing to come. On the other hand, if there are real senior people coming, there may not be a founder who has done a good job.
What exactly is a senior? This is also a question worth thinking about. Do you have many years of work experience? Did you prove yourself in your old company? Senior people may bring valuable experience, or they may be thinking patterns. For startups, senior people may not be able to help you much. You need to do everything possible to survive in a rapidly changing environment. What you need is to break the rules, not to impart experience.
Real talents are hard to find.
I used to think that there was a methodology in this world, which allowed me to master the method of finding talents after reading it. But looking back, almost all the real talents I got appeared inexplicably, and there were few normal channels (such as recruitment websites and campus recruitment).
My best reporter, Yang Qin, found me in a personal letter about Paidai.com. My school girl Qi Yu found me by reading my recruitment information on Fudan BBS. My editor Lu Jianing was introduced by Chyi Yu's former colleague. Tang Xiaoyou, whom I recruited in Ming Dow, was found through WeChat WeChat official account. ...
Finding a business partner is very similar to finding a partner. I can only rely on fate. Maybe a lot of people want to hit me after reading it. "You talked for a long time, which means you didn't say anything!" However, this is the way it is.
3. Focus on the accumulation of "low-end" contacts.
Everyone knows that connections are very important, but most people may only pay attention to "high-end" connections and ignore ordinary people around them, which is not worth the candle. You know, if you curry favor with high-end people, will people really value you? How much are you worth to others? I worked hard to save stacks of business cards and took photos, but when I really needed help, I found that the bamboo basket was empty.
When we try to climb the workplace pyramid, we need someone to pull you up and support you down. Why did Chiang Kai-shek leave office three times and be invited back three times? Because only he can command those generals, because he used to be the president of Huangpu Military Academy, and he has enough "low-end" contacts to support him.
So pay attention to those low-end contacts. One of your "little fans" may be the general who will help you achieve great things in the future.
4. Cooperation rather than employment.
As a startup, don't overestimate your attraction to outstanding talents. What is attraction? Do you see that tens of thousands of talented young people struggle for a civil servant position every year, all kinds of relationships and hidden rules? This is the attraction!
So when we face the government, state-owned enterprises and foreign enterprises, don't we have any advantages? There is a kind of welfare that they can't give, but we can, and that is a sense of accomplishment and personal growth. In a big company, the influence of an individual on the whole organization is hard to be felt. You are like a pinion. Your machine can run without you. It doesn't matter much if you change it. In large organizations, people do the implementation work day after day without thinking, and the speed of personal growth is also very slow.
But in a startup company, the influence of individuals on the whole company can be fully perceived, which brings a strong sense of accomplishment to a young person. Moreover, startups often require employees to know everything, and employees will grow rapidly.
In order to stimulate an employee's enthusiasm for work to the greatest extent, he must not feel that he is only selling his physical strength and time for the company, but that he is using the company's resources to work for himself. Therefore, our relationship with employees is not an employment relationship, but a partnership that each needs.
5. Enterprises with values are more attractive.
Alibaba attaches great importance to values, which has been criticized by many people, even comparing Ma Yun with Chairman Mao, but from my actual work, values are really very important. A person's work performance is equal to the product of business ability and values. In other words, under the premise of the same business ability, the contribution made by two employees who are different from the company's values may be several times different.
What are the values? Generally speaking, the company's values are the values of the founder and senior leaders. Soldiers bear a nest, will bear a nest, fish begins to stink at the head, said this is the truth. Moreover, values can be transmitted and will be directly reflected when you hire employees.
The reason why I am working hard now and have a sense of accomplishment is largely because I agree with the founder's value concept-polishing products like craftsmen, and firmly believe that socialized management is the general trend and makes everyone's work easier.
There are many things that can make money in this world, but not all of them can bring you psychological satisfaction. Being a company with strong values will naturally attract people who share your aura.
6. Don't always think about retaining employees.
From the heart, I certainly hope to keep the backbone in the company, but my reason tells me that the only way to keep them is not to try to keep them.
I forget who told me this sentence: "Your true value will be reflected in your next job." This sentence is really right. I have observed many successful people in the workplace, and most of them have changed jobs several times to get their current positions. Changing a company is often the fastest and most effective way to improve your ranking.
Everyone is eager for success and wants to get ahead. You can't stop your employees from thinking so. The better the employee, the harder it is for you to keep him, because he can have many choices. Since you can't stay, don't think about it at all, and regard the achievement of an employee as the success of your work. At least if you do this, you can completely arouse his enthusiasm during his work in your company, which is enough for you.
The only condition for retaining employees is that the growth rate of the company is higher than that of the individual employees. Wages, options, contracts, it doesn't matter.
7. Pay 1.5 people's salary and do the work of two people.
I don't need to explain this sentence.
