Summary of Gong's Practice in Pet Hospital

—— Internship summary: Gong, Power System 07 10 1 class.

From the beginning of July to the end of August,1October 24th to1the end of October, animal production practice was conducted in Changde Chengxi Pet Hospital.

Changde Chengxi Pet Hospital is a relatively large-scale pet hospital in Changde City, which integrates pet medicine, pet supplies and pet grooming. The infrastructure in the pet hospital is relatively complete, and the necessary operating room, beauty room and infectious disease isolation room are all set up. This pet hospital is usually very busy, and people in the hospital are often too busy. Any pet who is a little uncomfortable will go to this hospital first to see what is wrong, and the reputation is better. On the one hand, this pet hospital is well-equipped, and many scientific and technological products are incorporated into the diagnosis, such as microscopes used for skin disease diagnosis. On the other hand, the doctors in this hospital are very good, sincere and friendly. So there is little leisure time here on weekdays, and as soon as I sit down, I will start working again. There is a lot of customer flow every day. Our main work there every day is cleaning, receiving small pets who come to see a doctor, helping small pets to do some simple beauty treatments, giving them injections, regularly disinfecting hospitals and other relatively simple tasks. Dogs are the main pets coming to the pet hospital, among which VIP, Bomei, Golden Retriever, Shepherd Dog and Lion Haired Dog are more. During my internship, the cases I contacted were mainly infectious diseases (like canine distemper and parvovirus), parasitic diseases (like mites and fungi), surgical diseases (like trauma and abscess), internal medical diseases (stomatitis and pneumonia), toxic diseases (organophosphorus compound poisoning) and other diseases. I also learned and basically mastered some surgical operations, such as ligating male and female dogs. In addition, I also collected information during my internship and successfully completed my graduation thesis.

The boss who runs this hospital is an experienced doctor. He is strict with us at work and cares about us very much in life. From him and other pet doctors, we learned a lot about being a man, doing things and starting a business, which made me deeply realize that being a qualified pet doctor requires not only skilled operation skills, but also excellent professional quality.

During the four-month internship, I learned a lot of knowledge, which we usually can't learn in class. The work of a pet hospital is actually very simple. As long as the pet's disease is diagnosed, the right medicine can be prescribed. But seemingly simple things, in which there is a lot of knowledge, need enough knowledge as the backing.

I remember the first time I saw a puppy drip during my summer internship. I was very surprised. I thought this dog was no different from us humans. Whenever the dog is taking a drip, the owner is always gentle, gently stroking and quietly coaxing them, just like his own children. Every time I see such a scene, I always feel particularly warm. The puppy is really our most loyal partner.

After several days of observation and research, Dr. Hong asked me to give the puppy a needle myself. However, at that time, injections were usually given to hospitalized puppies, because many customers came to see a doctor with puppies, and they were generally reluctant to give injections to interns for fear of hurting the puppies. So it's a relatively simple job to just observe for the first time and then take the pet's temperature.

The first time I gave the puppy an injection, I panicked and my hands were shaking. Thanks to Dr. Hong's patient guidance, and the puppy was really good, no matter how it was tied, it didn't resist, so with everyone's Qi Xin's cooperation, I finally tied the needle on the second needle and successfully completed my first intravenous drip for my pet.

In fact, this needle insertion looks easy and easy to learn, but in fact, I didn't realize how much knowledge this needle insertion has until I really started to operate it myself. First of all, you must tie the pressure pulse tightly to the puppy, and it must be tied above the puppy's joints. Then you must find the blood vessels, wipe them with iodine cotton and expose them. Finding blood vessels is a key step. The first injection I gave to the puppy before failed because I didn't find the right blood vessel. In fact, as long as the pressure pulse band is tied tightly and wiped in one direction of the puppy's leg with iodine cotton, even if the blood vessel is covered with hair, it can clearly identify which part of the blood vessel to insert the needle into, and you can feel it with your hands. The needle should be pricked from the distal end, so as not to puncture the blood vessel with the previous needle. You can continue to insert needles near the cardiac end without affecting the infusion.

Usually, I watch myself get sick and have an intravenous drip in the hospital. Nurses always divide by three times and five times, and I don't understand this little thing until I do it myself. There are many college questions I want to learn in these simple steps, such as preparation, vein banding, iodine cotton rubbing to find blood vessels, needle insertion, fixation, drip speed adjustment, dressing change and needle withdrawal.

In the process of infusion, one of the most common problems is needle walking. A puppy is like a child, not as obedient and easy to coax as a child, so it is difficult for him to stay there for infusion. Naughty children are like ADHD children. They like to walk around, so we always ask their owners to stay with them and comfort them. Of course, the needle is generally better, and the dog will not walk if it moves casually. But if the pet is too lively, or the needle is not suitable, it will often go away. Once an injection is given, the first reaction is that the medicine in the infusion tube cannot drip down. Touch the pet's leg again at this time. If it's swollen, it must be the needle. In this case, most of us are flexible, and sometimes we just need to pull out the needle a little. But sometimes we have to pull out the needle and reinsert it. This has happened to me several times, mostly because I didn't tie it properly and my pet didn't cooperate. However, after almost two months of acupuncture practice in the summer vacation, I was able to work smoothly and steadily every time in this internship.

I still have a lot to learn in the pet hospital. Learning and writing while watching every day, I feel that I have a lot of gains every day. Summer internship, the most contact is the gastroenteritis of dogs. There are two kinds of this disease, one is common and less harmful. The other is viral gastroenteritis, which is more serious and has a higher mortality rate, mostly occurring in puppies. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are vomiting and diarrhea. The virus easily mixes with vomit and blood clots in sewage. In severe cases, vomit and sewage are blood and salivation. Viral gastroenteritis is an infectious disease. When treating this disease for pets, we must do a good job of disinfection and isolation to prevent it from being transmitted to other healthy pets.

Because it is a cold season and the temperature is changeable, the common disease is a cold. This kind of cold is mostly because the pet's own immunity is poor and its physical condition is not very good, so it can't adapt to the sudden environment in time. This often leads to colds, fever and runny nose.

In addition, I also learned about a disease with great harm and high mortality. Like canine distemper in dogs. It is similar to viral gastroenteritis, but not exactly the same. Dogs with canine distemper have many gums, runny nose and high body temperature, and their body temperature has been rising, so it is not easy to cool down. The cure rate of this disease is not very high. Dr. Hong mostly injects canine distemper serum into dogs suffering from this disease, and then prescribes Chinese medicine, so that the owner of the dog can go back and decoct the medicine himself.

For viral gastroenteritis, also known as canine parvovirus disease, we often use CPV rapid test paper in hospitals to take feces from the anus of dogs for testing. For canine distemper, we use CDV rapid test paper to detect the secretion and snot of dogs.

One thing that makes me feel a little proud in the pet hospital is that I am in charge of microscopic examination of skin diseases in the hospital. Dr. Hong told me that most common abnormal hair removal of pets is due to skin diseases. Dermatosis is a stubborn disease, which is easy to recur, difficult to consolidate and has a long treatment cycle. We often scrape off the red or festering skin of dogs to make slides, add skin diagnostic solution to make samples, and observe them under a microscope to confirm the nature of skin diseases. Most common skin diseases are caused by mites and fungi. However, there are many kinds of mites, and only by careful observation under a microscope can we diagnose which kind of mites it is and then prescribe the right medicine. Because the two masters working in the pharmacy have never used a microscope before, this glorious task was given to me, which also made me make great progress in using a microscope.

This internship, compared with my summer vacation, I learned more things and recorded them in detail. What makes me most happy is that I am already an excellent doctor's assistant. I can perform minor operations by myself, such as stitching the skin of a sick dog, and be a good doctor's assistant during the operation.

Changde Chengxi Pet Hospital is a "small but complete sparrow" type. There you can not only give pets injections and medicines, but also perform operations. The first operation I observed and learned there was to sterilize a bitch who was just in heat. This is a relatively small operation. After the disinfection of the operating table and other preparatory work, the operation officially began. Puppies are given general anesthesia according to their weight. Dr. Hong operated on two fingers of the breast, from two fingers down to the penultimate finger from the umbilical cord of the puppy, which is almost the position of the puppy's uterus. Attention should be paid to hemostasis during the operation, and the rest of us have not been idle and have been fighting for it. I usually get scared when I see blood. That time I didn't blink, so I observed the whole process in my eyes and recorded it in my mind. Sterilization of bitches mainly involves ligation of fallopian tubes and removal of ovaries. For male dogs, it is easier to remove testicles and castrate male dogs than female dogs.

There are some unpleasant times in the pet hospital. The vomit and excrement of some sick dogs are dirty and smelly. I want to clean them up. But I think it's also a kind of exercise. You have to suffer a little to become a master.

In addition, I began to contact with pet grooming in this internship, and I have been able to bathe, groom and do simple pet grooming skillfully.

I can always meet many new things that I have never seen before in the pet hospital, which makes me full of expectations every day. Those little pets in the pet hospital bring me different happiness every day. But I also feel uncomfortable sometimes, not because the doctor is not good to me, but because some small pets are hospitalized in the hospital because of serious illness and poor health, and they have not survived. Every time I see their owners crying over their dead pets, my heart is sour. After all, being in hospital for so long and taking care of them for so long is also very emotional. Besides, it's really hard for such a lovely little life to go like this.

I learned a lot in the pet hospital and feel that I am making progress every day. Now if someone comes to the pet hospital with his little cutie, I can calmly ask about the symptoms, take my temperature, and then make a preliminary diagnosis, which can be similar to Dr. Hong's diagnosis. But there is still a lot of knowledge that I haven't learned because of time. I memorized everything I learned, so I won't write it all here. I will study what I haven't learned yet. This internship is mainly about studying and observing, then taking care of the sick dog and cleaning. Although the work is simple, the happiness of that kind of work can't be felt at school.

After the internship, I bid farewell to the lovely teacher and the little cute people who spent four months with me. I really don't want to be separated from them, but I believe I will come back again. I really appreciate the guidance of the doctors in the pet hospital. I will keep everything they teach in mind.

After this internship, I am delighted to find that I have gained double gains-the consolidation of professional knowledge and the mature transformation of my mind. This internship made me apply the book theory I learned to practice, which made it more difficult for me to get familiar with my major, understand the social reality, strengthen my sense of competition, and at the same time found my own shortcomings. This is only a preliminary attempt, but it is really a great wealth for me. It taught me how to face the actual work and society in the future, and also pointed out the direction of the future road for me.
