Yes, a beautiful piece of jade can't be turned into exquisite jade without careful carving. If people don't study hard, they will never know much knowledge and truth. There is also a fable: once upon a time, a large-scale temple was built somewhere. After the completion of the temple, good men and women near the temple prayed for the Buddha to send their best sculptor to carve a Buddha statue every day, so the Tathagata sent an arhat who was good at carving to become a sculptor. The sculptor chose one of the two prepared stones of excellent quality and began to work. However, unexpectedly, he picked up the chisel and chiseled it a few times, and the stone cried. Arhat, who carved it, advised it: "If you don't carve it carefully, you will always be an unremarkable stone, so just bear it." However, the stone still wailed: "hurt me, hurt me." Please, please give me a break. " The sculptor couldn't stand the roar of this stone, so he had to stop working, so he chose another original stone that was far less than it. Although the texture of this stone is poor, he is glad that he was chosen by the sculptor, and he is also convinced that he will be carved into a beautiful statue. Regardless of the sculptor's knife and axe, it endures silently with perseverance. The sculptor knew that this stone was poor in texture. In order to show his art, he worked harder and carved more finely. Soon, a solemn and magnificent Buddha statue stood in front of people. To everyone's surprise, he put it on the altar. For the convenience of more and more pilgrims, the stones that are afraid of pain are filled to build roads. Because he couldn't stand the pain of carving at first, now he has to endure the pain of people coming and going. Seeing the carved Buddha enjoying people's worship, the abandoned stone always feels bad. One day, he couldn't bear it anymore and carved the stone paved by the steps into it. Buddha said, "You and I are really a stone. You only need six knives to make the steps, but I have suffered a lot." You don't want to try that kind of painful suffering at first, and of course you don't deserve people's respect. What people worship is not my stone, but my stone, my hardship and indomitable spirit of suffering. What a blessing it is to be a person who can't even meet the breeze and drizzle. " "Book of Rites": "Jade is uncut, abrasive, and people don't know without learning." Indeed, a beautiful jade, if not carved, will always be a rough jade. Similarly, no matter how talented a person is, if he doesn't study hard, he can't understand the past and things, and he may not know love and tolerance.
