It was in 1887 that the organ made in the United States, which was regarded as a treasure by Hamamatsu Normal School in Japan, suddenly stopped working. Torakusu Yamaha was a medical device repairman at that time, and he was entrusted to repair it. Yin Nan, who saw the internal structure of the organ for the first time, became interested in this instrument and came up with the idea of making the organ himself.
So, on the basis of repairing the structure observed, he and the decorator Kazuo Nissaburo made one part after another. After 63 days of trial and error, Japan's first domestic organ was finally born. In order for the completed organ to be tested, two people carried the organ with poles and walked across the ridge of Hakone-CHO, all the way to the Music Research Institute (now Tokyo University of the Arts) in Tokyo. However, in the face of the cruel evaluation that "the shape of the organ is good, but the tuning is not accurate and it is not easy to use", the two are very disappointed. "You can't give up all your efforts because of this setback, so that the initial volunteers can be fully realized!" In this way, Yin Nan stayed in Tokyo and studied music theory and tuning methods from scratch at the Music Institute as a special listener. After 1 month of surprise study, Yin Nan returned to Hamamatsu, began to concentrate on making the organ day and night, and finally completed the second organ. The second review is considered as "an alternative to importing organs".
