When Zhang was young, he was smart and diligent. When he was in middle school, he had the ambition of saving the country by industry. After graduation, I went to Japan to study papermaking. 19 19 graduated from tokyo institute of technology, and then worked as a technician in Hokkaido paper mill of Japanese Fuxi paper company.

After 1937, Zhang returned to Jiangxi to engage in teaching, and successively served as a teacher of Jiangxi Paper Professional School and the head of the Chemical Department of Jiangxi Institute of Technology.

From 65438 to 0950, Zhang was appointed by the people's government to build the first paper mill in Jiangxi Province-Southwest Jiangxi People's Paper Mill, and served as the director and chief engineer. Under the condition of insufficient personnel, funds and equipment, he went deep into the production line, shared joys and sorrows with technicians and workers, and overcame many difficulties. It took only three years to complete and put into production, and was commended by Gannan Administrative Office.

From 65438 to 0952, Zhang was transferred to Nanchang to participate in the preparation of Jiangxi paper mill and served as the chief engineer of the factory. After careful study and assiduous study, he finally eliminated the "trachoma" on the paper, significantly improved the product quality, and was commended by Governor Shao Shiping.

After 1955, Zhang successively served as vice president of Jiangxi Industrial Technology School, director of the Department of Chemical Engineering of Jiangxi Institute of Technology, vice president of Jiangxi Institute of Light Industry and vice president of Jiangxi Light Chemical Industry School. He devoted his life to the technical work and teaching work of the paper industry, trained many talents and made great contributions. Elected as the representative of the first, second and third people's congresses of Jiangxi Province, member of Jiangxi Science and Technology Committee, deputy director of Nanchang Science and Technology Committee, executive director of Jiangxi Chemical Industry Society, and vice chairman of Nanchang Chemical Industry Society.

During the Cultural Revolution, Zhang was brutally persecuted by the counter-revolutionary groups of Lin Biao and Jiang Qing. Unfortunately, he died in June of 1968 at the age of 73. 1979 July 17 held a grand memorial meeting to rehabilitate him and restore his reputation.
