Why are the footnotes all numbered 1? The format has been set with consecutive numbers, but it is still wrong. What is the reason?
Use word to insert references.

There must be references when writing a paper, but the first headache when writing a paper is the insertion of references. Although I used to know that word has a powerful function of inserting and quoting, and I also reprinted the experience summary written by others, I have never used it in fact, but now I use it. First, summarize the solutions to some problems I have encountered temporarily, and then summarize what I haven't encountered in the future! I hope I can save you some time.

1 .. Insert the first reference as an endnote.

Place the cursor in the word document where you want to insert the reference, and then press Insert/Reference/Footnote and Endnote. The menu appears, and you can select "endnote" and "end of document" with the numbering format of "1, 2,3". Press the "Insert" button. In the future, according to this method, word will automatically update the numbering whether it is inserted in front of or behind the reference, so it is not necessary to adapt the numbering one by one.

2. Put brackets around the inserted reference.

Word automatically inserted references without parentheses. It's too much trouble to put brackets one by one after all the references have been written. In what way? Press "Edit/Find", enter "e" in the search field, and then replace it with "[&; ]"。 (i.e. n (n >); 2) Secondary superscript cannot be replaced. In this case, you should enter "#" in the search field (which means "any number" in "special format") and select "font-superscript" as the format option (the above search method can only find the superscript generated by "cross reference", and the superscript inserted for the first time still needs "e" to find it). I used it! The effect is very good.

3. Delete the superscript mark of the reference number in the endnote.

You will find that the references in the text and endnotes are in superscript form. The superscript in the text is what you want, but the endnote is not what you want. Modify the method of simultaneous spectrogram, select a number, and press the shortcut key "ctrl+shift+=". You can also select, right-click, font, and deselect items in the effect. (Just create a new Character style.)

4. Delete "endnote separator"

2003 edition:

There are several pages of references, and you will find that there is a horizontal line in front of each page of references, which cannot be deleted. This is called the endnote delimiter. How to delete it? Enter normal view. Press View/Footnote, and the editing interface is divided into two parts. The edit box below is an endnote edit box. Select the endnote drop-down box in the endnote edit box and a horizontal line will appear. Select the horizontal line and delete it. Select "Endnote Continuation Delimiter" and a horizontal line will appear (this is a long horizontal line that appears when endnotes are paginated). Select this horizontal line and delete it. After closing, press View/Page to switch back.

2007 edition:

1. Check first? "Normal view";

2. Enter "Reference"? Footnotes? "Show notes";

3. "Endnotes" appear at the bottom of the window, and click the drop-down menu "All Endnotes";

4. Select "endnote separator" and delete the horizontal line;

5. Select Endnote Continuation Delimiter, and then delete the horizontal line. It's done.

Delete the horizontal line above the footnote in the same way.

5. Cross-reference

When you quote a document that has been cited in the previous document for the nth time (n is greater than or equal to 2), you should use "cross-reference". Method: Press Insert/Reference/Cross Reference to open the menu. Select endnote in the reference type, and the reference content is endnote number. At this point, all the endnotes you wrote will appear in the menu. Select what you need, and then press Insert to complete the cross-reference.

Note: If you later insert a new endnote in the previous document, the numbers of subsequent endnotes will be automatically updated, but the cross-references will not be automatically updated. What shall we do? Press "ctrl+A" to select all the contents, and then press "F9" to complete the manual update. (I don't think so, it should be right-click "update domain")

6. Continuous endnotes

Literature citation, especially in the literature review section, often juxtaposes several quotations, such as [2 1-25], but word doesn't have this function, and it can't delete the middle literature, otherwise the endnote citations will be automatically deleted, so it has to be implemented in a stupid way:

① Insert all endnotes according to the normal method, including the replacement style. If there are continuous endnotes, don't deal with them first. For example, if a continuous endnote like [3][4][5][6] is formed, the following endnote will become [3-6].

② Select [][4][5][] first, then open the font and check the "Hide" check box in the "Effect" option to hide the selected characters. This can not only formally meet the requirements, but also keep the reference link.
