Laboratory Medicine (formerly Shanghai Journal of Medical Laboratory) is a magazine published at home and abroad by Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau and sponsored by Shanghai Clinical Laboratory Center. It has been included in China Academic Journals Comprehensive Evaluation Database, China Core Journals (Selected) Database, China Journals Full-text Database, American Chemical Abstracts (CA), Russian Abstracts Magazine Retrieval System, Polish Copernicus Index Retrieval System, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts Society CSA-ProQuest Database, and ulich Journal Guide.

This journal was founded in March 1986, and changed from quarterly to bimonthly from 1999, and changed to monthly from 2009. This journal adheres to the combination of practicality, theory and practice, popularization and improvement, and inspection and clinic, and reports the latest scientific research achievements, new progress in practical technology, and the performance and characteristics of various inspection methods in this professional field.

As far as the methodology of laboratory medicine is concerned, the new automatic instruments and reagents, the improvement of various technologies and the development of miniaturization, simplification and instant testing (POCT) have continuously met the needs of patients for rapid diagnosis and self-diagnosis. The development of laboratory medicine makes it an indispensable and important subject in clinical medicine.

At present, this journal has articles, abstracts, lectures, summaries, minutes of meetings (discussions), exchange of experiences, academic trends at home and abroad, teaching fields, new technologies and methods in clinical microbiology, clinical biochemistry, clinical immunology, clinical laboratory and hematology, molecular biology and laboratory management. Since 1999, our journal has set up a "special topic" column with novel content and large amount of information, which has been well received by domestic medical laboratory colleagues.

This journal takes the lead in implementing open access (OA) in domestic journals in laboratory medicine. In 20 13 years, the number of hits on website articles exceeded 7 10000 (including 68.27% in China, 24.63% in the United States, 4.06% in Europe and 3.04% in other regions). )。 In 20 13 years, the full-text downloads exceeded 3 1 10,000 times; Mainly distributed in China (46.07%) and the United States (5 1.20%), distributed in 30 countries.

The four editorial boards are: Zhu Yusheng (Director of Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, South Carolina Medical University), (Director of Flow Cytometer Laboratory, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Emory University Hospital, USA) and Zheng (Ann & amp; Robert H.Lurie, Director of Microbiology Department of Children's Hospital, and Richard (Professor of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine Department of New Jersey University of Medicine and Dentistry, USA). This also laid a solid foundation for laboratory medicine to go abroad.
