History of College Development: The School of Foreign Languages of Chongqing University was originally the Department of Foreign Languages of Chongqing University, and was founded in 1932, which belongs to the College of Literature. At the beginning of the establishment of the Department, a large number of well-known scholars at home and abroad, such as Western writer, Professor Wu Mi, an expert on redology, Professor Zhu Wenzhen, an expert on Shakespeare, and Professor Zhou Kaocheng, an expert on English phonetics, were hired to teach in the Department. 1952 foreign languages department changed to foreign languages teaching and research section, 1985 resumed foreign languages department, 1995 established foreign languages college. In May 2000, according to the decision of the State Council's higher education system reform, the College merged with the former Foreign Languages Department of chongqing jianzhu university and the former Foreign Languages Department of Chongqing Jianzhu University, and established a new Foreign Languages College of Chongqing University.
