After a month, Socrates asked his classmates: "300 times a day, which classmate insisted?" 90% of the students raised their hands proudly. After another month, Socrates asked, this time, only 80% of the students persisted. A year later, Socrates asked everyone again: "Please tell me, which students insisted on the simplest cutting practice?" At this time, only one person in the whole classroom raised his hand. This classmate is Plato who later became another great philosopher in ancient Greece. The easiest thing in the world is persistence, and the most difficult thing is persistence. It's easy, because anyone can do it if he wants to. This is difficult, because only a few people can really do it. Success lies in persistence. This is a secret that is not mysterious. The same is true of learning specialties. If you want to really learn something, persistence is very important. Now many of our students have taken part in various special classes and chosen one major or another to study. There are both our good wishes to cultivate a hobby and our parents' ardent expectations for us. Many students vowed before signing up, but they still didn't finish the class, either bored or afraid of difficulties. As a result, they spent their parents' hard-earned money and wasted their time, but they learned nothing. Some students persisted until the end, but after three days of fishing and two days of drying nets, the result was still the same. This is the consequence of not insisting. We know that any success requires hard work and sweat, especially. This is the eternal truth. There are many other examples: Sima Qian spent 15 years writing Historical Records, Darwin spent 20 years writing The Origin of Species, and Marx spent 40 years writing Capital. So here, I want to tell all the students who have studied well that perseverance is the most important thing to really learn a specialty and master a skill.
