1. Open the damaged document and click File → Save as menu. In the Save as type list, select RTF format, and then click the Save button.
2. Open the RTF file you just saved, and use Save As to save the file as a Word document again. Now open this Word file, we can find that the file has been restored.
If the file cannot be recovered after being converted to RTF format, you can convert the file to plain text format (*. Txt), and then return to the Word format.
Method 2: Use the "Open and Repair" function of word2002/2003 to repair the document.
1. Start word2002/2003, click Open under the File menu, and select an important restored word document in the Open dialog box.
2. Click the lower triangle button to the right of the "Open" button, and select the "Open and Repair" option in the pop-up drop-down menu to repair the damaged document. After the repair is completed, the contents of the document will be displayed.
Tip: "Open and Repair" is a function only available in word2002 and above.
Method 3: Create a new normal template?
Word stores the default information in the Normal.dot template file. If the template file is damaged, it may lead to the error that the Word document cannot be opened. At this point, please create a new normal template as follows:?

2. Use the "Search" or "Search" command in the Windows start menu to find all Normal.dot files and rename or delete them. For example, in Windows XP, click Start, click Search, and then click All Files and Folders. In the All or part of the file name box, type "normal.dot". In the Find Here list box, click the hard drive letter where Word is installed, and then click the Search button.
3. After searching, right-click "Normal" or "Normal.dot" in the result list, and then click the "rename" command, type a new name for the file, such as "Normal.old", and then press enter to confirm; ?
4. restart Word. At this point, because Word cannot recognize the renamed Normal template file, it will automatically create a new Normal template.
Method 4: reinstall Office.
If all the above methods fail, it may be that there are other failures in Office, such as internal instructions being modified by viruses. So uninstall Word first, then carry out overall antivirus or repair, and then reinstall it.
