Interest is the best teacher and the motivation and source of learning. On the relationship between teaching and learning, the ancients emphasized that "teaching must be interesting, and learning can promote it with interest". For primary school English teachers, the most important thing in teaching is to stimulate students' interest and let students acquire knowledge spontaneously and actively. Interest is the best teacher and the premise of everyone's success. Therefore, in primary school English teaching activities, we teachers should try our best to dig out the interest points in the course materials and find out the interest points that students like and want to learn, so as to stimulate students' desire to learn and cultivate their strong interest in learning English.

Over the years, learning a foreign language, especially the basic education in primary school, has become the focus of every foreign language teacher's lesson preparation. Stimulate students' interest in learning English, cultivate students' enthusiasm for learning English, enable students to establish their self-confidence in learning English, and at the same time cultivate students' sense of language and good pronunciation and intonation foundation, so as to lay a foundation for further study. Therefore, in English teaching, how to effectively stimulate students' interest in learning English and cultivate their enthusiasm for learning English is an important part of improving English teaching in primary schools.

In my eight-year English teaching practice in primary schools, I made great efforts to explore and innovate, which effectively stimulated students' interest in learning English, fully mobilized their enthusiasm for learning English, and further improved the quality of English teaching. How to improve students' interest in learning English? I think we should do a good job in the following aspects:

First, create a good English learning atmosphere.

The so-called English learning environment refers to what students see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and speak English as much as possible. For example, warning signs, placards and billboards on campus are all bilingual. The equipment names on the playground are bilingual; The class schedule, class rules and famous sayings in the classroom are all bilingual and so on.

Second, use inspiring language more, praise more and criticize less.

If a student has made even a little progress in English learning, we should praise him vigorously and make her more and more interested in learning English. On the other hand, if students make mistakes in the process of learning English, we should be more tolerant and encourage them to correct them bravely. After such a long time, they will have a strong interest and confidence in English.

Third, use a variety of teaching methods to mobilize students' enthusiasm.

1, skillfully using songs, jokes and stories.

Most pupils like to imitate singing. Although they can't express themselves clearly, the children are proud of themselves and enjoy it. Why don't we use it skillfully? There are many English learning contents in textbooks that can be expressed in the form of songs, which is helpful to stimulate interest and disperse difficulties. In the process of singing, you can ask questions or talk to different roles according to the content of the song, which reflects the communicative situation in the song. Let students get rid of the mechanical, boring, monotonous and tense learning environment, eliminate study fatigue, feel the fun of learning and improve learning efficiency.

2. Appropriate use of the situation created by multimedia simulation performance in English classroom teaching can integrate the dialogue students want to learn, deepen their understanding of the language, help students establish the connection between the language and the object of expression, thus mobilizing their learning enthusiasm and making students conduct English communication activities more consciously and interestingly. Students go deep into the role in the scene, practice consciously and actively, and give full play to their talents in the performance, which has a multiplier effect.

3. Carry out interest group activities Every Wednesday afternoon, we carry out interest group activities, and students choose the appropriate interest group according to their hobbies. In the interest group, I divided them into several groups, and each group has a person in charge. They can talk freely in English and give full play to their sense of ownership, which will be very fulfilling. In this way, students' interest in learning English will be improved.

Fourth, the design form of homework.

Let students do the homework they like and are willing to finish, which can not only consolidate what they have learned, but also enhance their interest in learning English, and get twice the result with half the effort.

Fifth, establish a harmonious relationship between teachers and students and create a harmonious emotional atmosphere.

Successful teaching depends on sincere understanding and mutual trust, and on a relaxed and harmonious classroom atmosphere. It is very important to establish a harmonious interpersonal relationship between teachers and students. The relationship between film and television teachers and students is a democratic, equal, harmonious and cooperative partnership. Teacher's love is the driving force of successful education. Therefore, teachers should respect students, listen to their voices and establish a good teacher-student relationship.

Sixth, pay attention to oral communication ability.

"Communication" is the experience of listening, speaking, reading and writing language skills, and it is also the advanced stage of teaching. Learning should be "applied", especially English learning. We should let students speak English after learning English. Oral English is not an explanation course, but a skill course. It depends on hard practice and practice, and only speaking will be effective. Primary school English can no longer be learned by rote, and it is absolutely necessary to prevent students from being "deaf" in English. Therefore, teachers and students are required to talk in English as much as possible in class and organize a lot of listening and speaking exercises. Students are also required to use some simple school daily expressions to improve the usage rate of English and strengthen the effect of oral English teaching. After class, the teacher took the lead and said that no matter whether he met his classmates on campus or at the stairs, the teacher could say hello in the simplest sentence: "Hi! How are you, son? " After a period of time, when students meet their teachers after class, they will scramble to say hello in English, forming a language habit.

In short, through these teaching attempts, my English classroom atmosphere is extremely active, students' enthusiasm is high, listening and speaking ability is greatly improved, cooperation consciousness and communication ability are also greatly enhanced, and students' interest in learning English is strong. As a teacher, I personally experienced the comfort and joy brought by these changes. In the future, I will work harder and constantly use various means to stimulate students' interest in learning English, so that they can learn easily and grow up happily!
