Among them, Daheigou is the most abundant, and its contents are mostly life scenes such as hunting, grazing, martial arts, horseback riding and fighting of ancient ancestors. Most of the characters wear wide-brimmed hats and long gowns. Animals include sika deer, bighorn sheep, bison, elephants, tigers and wild camels.
There is a long ravine in the southeast of Subei County, commonly known as Daheigou, with a slope of 500 meters and a steep surface. There are many stone carvings on both sides of the river bank at the ravine mouth. There are 34 groups of clearly visible pictures, more than 190 patterns.
These rock paintings are rich in content, including hunting scenes, grazing scenes, martial arts postures, horse riding scenes, etc., and their landscapes are dizzying. The animals in the embellishment picture are all local wild animals, except sika deer, bighorn sheep, bison and wild camels, as well as creepy tigers, elephants and other animals.
Next to the stone carvings, we also found the year number of "Huang Kai" in Sui and Tang Dynasties and some inscriptions on people's names. The figures and animals in these pictures were all chiseled out with some tools, and no traces of knife carving were found.
In the mountains and rivers southeast of Yanchiwan Township in Subei County, there is a place called Little Argelli Tower, and stone carvings have also been found. These pictures are distributed on the cliffs on both sides of the ravine. There are 9 groups of pictures and more than 20 images, and their images and paintings are similar to those of Daheigou rock paintings. It can be seen that ancient nomadic people are also full of talents, trying to seek fun in busy labor production.
Two groups of lithographs were also found in Shibao Town and Huiwanzi, northeast of the county seat, south of Goukou. Although there are few pictures here, they are much larger than those in other places. The first group of pictures is1.6m high and 3m wide, and there are 22 images in the two groups.
There are five groups of pictures and 74 portraits in Qilvgou Stone Carvings in the northeast of Shi Bao. The picture is magnificent, some are 4 meters high and 3 meters wide, and the largest camel is 94 centimeters.
Shi Bao's two stone carvings in urban and rural areas are similar to those in other places, and their themes also reflect the real life of ancient nomadic people. You can imagine how valuable their exquisite skills and hard work were at that time.
The famous Qilian Mountain rock painting "Hunting the Map" was probably made from the Spring and Autumn Period to the Han Dynasty. It was chiseled on the stone wall, 90 cm high and 170 cm wide.
This picture is a big scene. Five hunters are attacking a bison. The hunter approached the bison step by step with a bow and spear. Bison are strong and fierce, and there is quite an atmosphere of fierce battle. Goats and sika deer were frightened and fled everywhere, while distant goats and long-horned deer were still grazing leisurely in the mountain stream forest.
This multi-angle picture organization shows the author's familiarity with life and thinking ability in the form of images, which is undoubtedly an important work in this aspect of rock paintings. Hunters dressed in robes, boots and helmets may be ethnic minorities living in Qilian Mountains during this period.
