After Feng and Lu confirmed their love relationship, they asked their eldest brother Feng Youlan for advice, but they didn't agree immediately because they didn't know something about Lu's family. Feng and Lu found Cai Yuanpei, Hu Shi and others and wrote to Feng Youlan, so that he didn't have to ask more questions, and Feng Youlan didn't insist. With the acquiescence of her family, she got married in Shanghai on June 24th. 1929+65438. From then on, Feng and Lu lived together and grew old together.
After their marriage, they devoted themselves to teaching and academic research, and finally produced the first academic research achievement, namely, The History of China Poetry published in 193 1. This is another pioneering monograph on China classical literature after Wang Guowei's History of Song and Yuan Opera and Lu Xun's History of China Novels. The book was designated as an important reference by Lu Xun, which had a wide and far-reaching influence in academic circles. This glorious History of China's Poetry is the only monograph on the history of poetry in China. Following this book, the couple co-authored The Compendium of China Literature History, which was published by Shanghai Dajiang Bookstore 1932 and listed as one of the "Dajiang Encyclopedia Libraries". On the one hand, Feng and Lu persistently engaged in the study of classical literature; On the one hand, they scrimped and saved money to study abroad. After five years of hard work, their wish has finally come true. At that time, inflation in France and Germany became increasingly serious, and the prices of francs and marks fell sharply. He was admitted to the Doctor of Literature class of Paris University, specializing in classical lyrics and songs, and received his doctorate.
Feng and Lu are both first-class professors, and they have a considerable contribution fee. They have no children and daughters around them, and their lives are quite rich. But she has been living a poor and thrifty life. Feng Youlan, Feng's eldest brother, recalled: 1962, I went to their home once at work. The interior furnishings are very simple. She likes to buy books, but the bookshelf is almost erected with a few sticks, giving people the impression that she is staying in a hotel, as if she will move tomorrow. ...
Feng died of an incurable disease. Before her death, she once said to Professor Wang of Shandong University: "I am a cold Confucian, and I don't even have an heir. What can I leave for my country and nation? I want to be a little embarrassed, save some money and let the country do academic bonuses behind me; Return to future generations! "
After Feng's death, Lu Kanru wrote a memorable eulogy "Memory" for him. In this eulogy, he deeply recalled their acquaintance, love and combination, and the tragic scene before Feng died. Love is like life, a book that can never be written or read. Lu Kanru's eulogy is full of his feelings and enlightenment on love and life ... In order to comfort Feng's spirit in heaven, Lu Kanru, who is ill in bed, intends to edit and publish Feng's works before his death.
