Reflections on "Western Wisdom"
How do you feel after reading a work? To do this, you need to write down your thoughts carefully. Is it impossible to write without a clue? The following are my carefully organized thoughts on "The Wisdom of the West", hoping to help everyone.

Comments on the Wisdom of the West 1 The author of this book is a great philosopher Bertrand Russell. Before The Wisdom of the West came out, Russell wrote a great philosophical masterpiece The History of Western Philosophy, but for ordinary readers, such a masterpiece is difficult to understand.

Russell himself realized this, so he popularized the history of western philosophy and gave birth to western wisdom. Different from other philosophical histories, The Wisdom of the West focuses on the cause and effect of the development of western philosophy. Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Hume, Hegel and Marx are undoubtedly the highlights of western philosophy and should be the focus of attention. But we should also see that these people's thoughts do not come out of thin air, and everyone can go higher only by standing on the shoulders of giants. Without scholasticism in the dark ages, Hume, a milestone of western philosophy, would not exist. Without Hume, Kant would not have come into being. Without Kant, Hegel's dialectics would not be discussed. Without sublating Hegel's dialectics, Marx could not put forward dialectical materialism. Russell clearly expounded this historical inheritance, making people see that western philosophy is not just a bright spot, but a long river.

In this book, the author explains the history very clearly. The reader's mind will not be a lonely philosophical history, but a long scroll of philosophical development with environment and background. He spent a lot of time on the development of science and economy, but his focus was not on the development of science and economy itself, but on the ideas behind his achievements and the promotion of philosophy.

What we may see is an ideological panorama of western history. Understanding the advanced western ideas will help us learn from each other's strong points. I read the book "The Wisdom of the West", which reviewed some development processes of the West. After reading it, I realized something.

The development of human thought is like a spiritual torch, which can spread light to the darkest place of the soul, make the weak become warriors, make the strong full of love, and thus make the world full of warmth. Spirit is immortal, just as it is still necessary for us to relive the ideological course of the whole mankind today, the flame of thought has been passed down from generation to generation and finally got today's ideological feast.

I am enjoying the feast of human thought-from barbarism to civilization, from ignorance to wisdom. Although there are still many problems such as poverty, war, development, environment and population. However, we will find the answer in the end. It is these problems that require us to take the road of human thought again.

We can't go through physical hardships any more, what we need is spiritual baptism! !

The crystallization of the wisdom of the masters in history is a mental path from history to the future! The mind is the widest road for human beings, and everyone needs to mend it, otherwise personal life will be isolated.

Read "Wisdom of the West" 3. When I was in college, a philosophy teacher said, "To love philosophy is to love wisdom". In retrospect, this is probably the most useful sentence I learned in four years of college. Philosophy is the result of thinking, not dead knowledge for learning. This book is divided into two volumes, which systematically introduces the background, development process and branch school theory of western philosophy from Socrates era to contemporary philosophy period, shows us a history of western philosophy development, and also spreads an antique and vivid picture of western wisdom for us.

The book involves philosophy, mathematics, physics, chemistry, politics, economy and other aspects of thought. From time to time, generate sparks wisdom, attracting people to read, forcing people to think and inspiring people to think. The author uses the language of popular images to express its advantages, expose its shortcomings, give us an education and an inspiration, and make us feel that a certain theory is not eternal. Theory can play a certain social role in a specific period, and it needs someone to question it boldly, so as to promote the theory to mature, "learn from others", form wisdom, enrich society and benefit mankind. Only in this way can social science, culture and other undertakings develop, society progress, the nation go to the old and welcome the new, and the youthful vitality of the body can be preserved forever.

Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Bacon, Descartes, Kant, Rousseau, Spinoza, Kierkegaard, etc. Have a view of the past and the present. For us modern people, we should read more books, think more, brush away the dust curtain cast by people and the world, read them gently and savor them carefully, from reading biographies to reading the original works, understand who they are and evaluate their works. Philosophy is wisdom, practice makes perfect. Wisdom is speculation, and it is wisdom for two children to distinguish the sun from the sun. Who can say not?

Reflections on Western Wisdom 4 This winter vacation, I read a book called "The Wisdom of the West" by Russell. This is a book about philosophy, a book about the history of philosophy. After reading this book, I know what philosophy is. Now I think philosophers are the smartest people, because the problems they think are beyond the understanding of ordinary people.

Most importantly, I found that a real scientist or expert must be a philosopher. In fact, the original world is like this. When faced with things you don't know, you often feel relaxed. Take myself as an example. I used to know a little about Aristotle's thoughts, and I always thought that he was really stupid and misled mankind for more than two thousand years. But now I don't think so, because Aristotle's contribution is still a lot, and his thoughts have influenced the whole west.

So reading more books is really good.

Reflections on the Wisdom of the West 7. Some words in Russell's book have aroused some of my views. He said-if we are strangers to philosophy, we are no different from those prisoners. What we see is only the shadow, the appearance of things. Once we become philosophers, we will look at external things in the sunshine of reason and truth, which is true.

Socrates thinks that human beings know nothing about this world. But in fact, he does not think that knowledge is unattainable. What really matters is that we must pursue knowledge. So the reason why he thinks we know nothing is to warn us not to think that man is the tallest creature in the world, and we should learn to be humble in front of nature. He also believes that in order to achieve goodness, we must have knowledge, so knowledge is good. So Russell said that the connection between goodness and knowledge is the symbol that runs through Greek thought all the time.

The math I'm teaching now may not be used by you all your life, but I will teach it, because the knowledge is good, you should know it. So I think whoever discovers the wisdom of the New World should tell others, because the wisdom of this knowledge is good.

A sane person will love knowledge, so we all have to agree. At the same time, we must realize that knowledge is wisdom. The only way to gain wisdom is to grasp the basic laws of things, so love philosophy. Reading this book has given me a lot of wisdom, which is my greatest pleasure in reading this book.
