What should I pay attention to when writing book reviews?
As a person who has written a book review for a publishing house, let me talk about my experience.

There are two ways to write book reviews, one is for yourself and the other is for others. It doesn't matter if you read it yourself, you can write it as you like, but you should pay attention to logic and wording when you write it to others.

Here I share with you some details that need attention in book reviews, because details determine success or failure!

First, control the number of words.

Why control it? Book reviews of 2000-3000 words are the most comfortable to read. Unless you write very well or have your own unique ideas to write, there are too many words, and readers are prone to reading fatigue.

Book review is a limited and brief description of the knowledge gained in the book, rather than writing a paper, which requires a lot of words.

You can write only one opinion you like in the book, or you can write multiple opinions. The important thing is to express clearly, not to be ambiguous. Book review is not to extract many original words from the book and bring them into it. Such a book review is meaningless.

Second, pay attention to your typo.

This point is most easily overlooked by many people, because they think that in order to spell words or ideas, typing speed is fast, and typos will appear carelessly. But your typo will affect the quality of book reviews. Careful people will think that you are not careful enough, and it is often the details that determine success or failure. I didn't pay much attention to myself before, but now I will carefully check my typos and accept corrections humbly even if there are mistakes.

Third, the content of the book review determines whether it is popular or not.

When you write book reviews online, you will find that you like a lot. The people who rank first have very good book reviews. It doesn't have to be gorgeous words or long paragraphs, maybe just a few simple words can touch people's hearts.

Don't neglect quality in order to make up quantity. Writing a book is the same. Many new writers don't write attentively, but make a mess of words in order to make up the number of words. Readers can see that although they will not judge your writing, they will definitely think that you have not written with your heart.

Fourth, practice writing book reviews.

I feel much happier when I meet a good book. It would be best if I could write a better book review. But you forget that no one can write from the beginning, or even write badly from the beginning. These all need to be practiced, just like when I just wrote something online, no one looked at my stuff, and then I reflected on it myself and revised it constantly. It took me several years to get where I am today. Don't give up easily, practice more and work harder.
