How do freshmen in Sichuan University change their majors and take entrance exams?
It's another year of changing majors, and the campus is very lively. From March 17 to March 19, the Youth Volunteers Association of our school set up a consultation point in the Youth Square to provide you with information on changing your major, which attracted many students to stop. This activity not only provided information on the requirements of changing majors in colleges and universities in previous years, but also collected basic courses for freshmen in colleges and universities for reference. More students who have successfully changed majors in the past provide on-site answers and correct misunderstandings. A series of activities have made "changing majors" a hot topic on campus recently.
But have you really thought about why you want to change your major? Are you ready to improve your major? In this issue, we will start with two stories and talk to you about the topic of changing majors.
Story: Be loyal to your dreams and face reality.
■ Dreams finally come true.
Speaking of Wang Junling, the campus star of Sichuan University, my first thought is probably his carefree crosstalk on the stage. But as a student, he also encountered various troubles in his study and life, such as changing majors.
Wang Junling, who graduated from Kloc-0/3, actually entered Sichuan University in 2008. This special "five-year system" is very common for students who change majors. In the first class, the teacher asked the students to count from one to ten in Japanese. It took the student only one class to finish it successfully, but it took him two weeks to learn it reluctantly. Counselors and teachers are very concerned about this poor student and often make up lessons for him. He himself is "not working hard." He gets up at 6: 20 every day, reads Japanese before breakfast, and usually has Japanese audio in his headphones. Before class, he went to the flower bed with few people to read. These efforts have not achieved the expected results. In the next semester, he began to consider changing his major, with the goal of Chinese Department. At that time, students had rigid requirements for grade points when changing majors, and naturally he could not reach bad professional courses.
In order to switch to his favorite major, he studied harder after his sophomore year, and also took many Chinese courses, which gave him a deeper understanding of the Chinese Department. Soon after, Wang Junling tried to change his major again. This time, his professional achievements met the requirements and he was successfully transferred to the Chinese Department.
Students who change majors are under pressure from too many courses, and Wang Junling is no exception. In order to solve the problem of too many courses and even conflicts, he and his classmates form a mutual help group to learn from each other and make up lessons, and often use the linguistic knowledge learned in the Japanese department to learn Chinese.
In the following years, his professional achievements were among the best. Now I just graduated and have been a Chinese teacher since I was a child. He is very popular with students because of his strong language expression and affinity. In class, he often uses professional knowledge to assist teaching, whether in Chinese or Japanese. Not long ago, as a young teacher, he made his mark in a multi-school joint demonstration teaching.
His dream has a happy ending.
■ What you can't get is always in turmoil.
Chen Xiaowei is a young man from Xinjiang, majoring in control in the 09-level Institute of Chemical Technology. I loved reading since I was a child, but when I entered the university, I got out of control. Semiotics, sociology, linguistics and so on. His bookshelf is full of books. He is also an excellent actor in the Thunderstorm Drama Club of Sichuan University, and his lines and voices amaze the director.
Although he majored in science in high school, Chen Xiaowei was more interested in humanities and social sciences. He volunteered to take the college entrance examination and study liberal arts in a university. When the admission notice was issued, he discovered that he had been admitted to the School of Chemical Engineering of Sichuan University. His father secretly changed his wishes.
Chen Xiaowei didn't want to give in to fate. Since his freshman year, he has been actively preparing to change his major. While taking into account his major, he participated in many courses of Wenxin College. However, due to the opinions of his parents, he didn't submit his application for major change until his sophomore year.
At first, the process of changing majors went smoothly, but just before the last signature and seal procedure was executed, an experimental accident occurred in the original college, during which all procedures had to be suspended. Chen Xiaowei's dream of changing his major was dashed.
Although he didn't successfully switch to his favorite major, Chen Xiaowei insisted on auditing the courses of Wenxin College. During this period, he also completed many professional papers, the quality of which was enough to be published in core journals, and his classmates even won national scholarships. He is an incompetent engineering student, but he can hide the faces of most liberal arts students.
After graduation, he wants to study sociology in Nanjing University, and his doctor wants to study anthropology abroad. However, this ideal has not been supported by his family.
The first time I took the postgraduate entrance examination, I got a good grade in professional courses, but I regretted losing the election because of my poor English. The second postgraduate entrance examination failed again because I didn't adjust my mentality during the key sprint.
Now he "accepts his fate" and works in Alibaba Xinjiang Company. Occasionally, a junior asked him how to prepare for the sociology exam, and he would only silently write out a long list of books.
Reason: Why do you want to transfer?
■ "Better employment"
Wang Yi is a 20 13 student majoring in material forming and control engineering in the School of Manufacturing Science and Engineering. She is going to change her major, hoping to transfer to the engineering cost major of the School of Architecture and Environment. The reason for choosing the project cost is that Wang Yi thinks that the project cost is more suitable for girls not to go to the factory for study and employment in the future. If she can change her major as she wishes, wangyi needs to make up the required courses that she dropped out of her freshman year. "It may make her sophomore year too nervous," she said.
■ "Caused by interests"
/kloc-Li Yue, who majored in law at the 0/3 level law school, initially volunteered because of his parents' requirements. She herself thinks that "the most stable road is not necessarily the best". Out of interest in journalism, she plans to transfer to the journalism department of the College of Literature and Journalism this year. Interest is the source of motivation. She specially made some preparations for changing majors, read relevant books and took journalism courses. When asked what difficulties he would encounter after successfully changing majors, Li Yue felt that apart from the two pressing problems of full courses and great pressure at the end of the term, how to integrate into new colleges and classes also needed some efforts.
■ "For the ideal"
Yang Xia is now a student of 10 Mathematics College. Excellent grades in high school science, mistakes in the college entrance examination, was transferred to the popular journalism major. However, because his childhood dream was to become a mathematician, he chose to apply for a major change in the next semester, and was eventually demoted to the School of Mathematics with the first place in journalism. With excellent results, he was elected to the basic class of the School of Mathematics shortly after entering the new school, and will continue to study in the School of Mathematics in the future. Speaking of his experience of changing majors, Yang Xia said that he was glad that he stuck to his ideal.
■ "Personality reasons"
Tong Jia is a student majoring in tourism management, and this major is not his first choice. After a semester's study, she feels more and more that her introverted and quiet self is not suitable for her current major. After her own observation and consideration, Tong Jia thinks that accounting is more suitable for her, and she thinks that accounting has a good employment prospect. However, when asked what his plans are if he fails to change his major, Tong Jia expressed his willingness to continue studying his current major, minor in accounting, and obtain his own accountant qualification certificate.
Viewpoint: Interest is the driving force.
-Interview with Professor Li Changlong, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office.
Maybe you didn't know your major when you applied for the college entrance examination, or you chose to "obey the adjustment" and didn't enter your favorite major. Now that the freshman year is over half, the opportunity to change majors is just around the corner. Do you need to change your major? What major should I transfer to? What if I don't succeed in changing my major? These problems may be troubled by many freshmen of grade 20 13. Therefore, the reporter interviewed Professor Li Changlong, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office, and asked him to give you some suggestions.
"The problem of changing majors should be rational, and we should fully understand the original major and the major to be changed. If you apply for a major you really like, or have expertise in a certain field, you will be motivated if you are interested. " Professor Li Changlong suggested that you should not be influenced by your classmates and follow suit, or blindly pursue hot majors. Although some majors are popular at present, if the industry demand is saturated and the employment situation changes in a few years, it may be difficult to find employment. So hot majors are not necessarily the best choice. In addition to personal interests, through extensive collection of information, we can really understand the situation of this major and the applied major. At the same time, it will be beneficial to your rational judgment to seek the opinions of parents and teachers appropriately. After all, they have more life experiences.
If you apply blindly, even if you succeed, there will be some follow-up problems, and you may find that the new major is not the same as expected. "In principle, there is only one chance to change majors. I hope that the students will consider it carefully. " Li Changlong reminded me that if I asked to return to our college after the class started, it would not only cause difficulties in student status management, waste teaching resources, but also be unfair to other students. "You are responsible for your choice." Changing majors is just the beginning. Successful application not only satisfies personal interests, but also means that you have to bear more academic pressure than ordinary students and need to invest more energy in your studies. Therefore, before submitting your application for changing your major, you must think carefully and analyze carefully, and don't make a decision easily.
Changing majors is a process of selection and elimination, but the failure of application does not mean that you cannot study other majors. In this regard, Li Changlong has two suggestions: First, minor in the second major. At present, many colleges and universities have set up second major courses, and the country also recognizes the equivalent academic ability of "second major", but you can only apply if you learn this major course well. Followed by cross-professional postgraduate entrance examination. Sichuan University does not restrict cross-majors when recruiting graduate students. If you really love a certain field, you can also achieve the goal of changing your major through your own efforts. At the same time, after in-depth study of this major, you may find the correlation between the two majors, and form your own research advantages after cross-professional examination and research.
Changing majors is not only an idea, an application, an "approved" reply, but also a long-term responsibility. "Whether it is successful or not, students should take their studies seriously." Professor Li Changlong said.
