How to understand "the mind governs the gods"?
The heart dominates the heart, that is, the heart dominates God, or hides God contentedly. God has a broad sense and a narrow sense. God in a broad sense refers to the external expression of human life activities, which is a high generalization of life activities, such as the image, face, eyes, words and reactions of the whole human body. All these are contained in the scope of God. The mind god refers to the god in a narrow sense, including human spirit, consciousness and thinking activities. Modern medicine believes that human spirit, consciousness and thinking activities belong to the physiological function of the brain and are the reflection of the external objective things by the brain. Traditional Chinese medicine regards the human spirit, consciousness and thinking activities as the reflection of the physiological activities of the viscera, so it divides the spirit into five aspects, which are collected and sorted by the medical education network corresponding to the five zang-organs respectively. Therefore, Su Wen said: the heart stores the spirit, the lung stores the spirit, the liver stores the soul, the spleen stores the meaning, and the kidney stores the will. Although the human spirit, consciousness and thinking activities are related to the five internal organs, they mainly belong to the physiological function of the heart. The heart is the place where gods are hidden and the birthplace of psychological activities. There is also a close relationship between the heart governing the gods and the physiological function of the heart governing the blood vessels. This is because blood is the material basis of mental activity. Therefore, if the heart is full of qi and blood, the mind is nourished, and mental activities can be normal, then the spirit is uplifted, the mind is clear, the thinking is agile, the response is rapid, and it can be coordinated with the external environment. If the heart is sick and the main heart function is abnormal, the mental, conscious and thinking activities will be abnormal. For example, the lack of qi and blood in the heart will inevitably affect the mind, manifested as insomnia, dreaminess, forgetfulness and anxiety; If there is heat in the blood that disturbs the mind, it shows irritability, delirium and even coma; If phlegm-fire disturbs the mind, the mind is confused, which is manifested as mania, impermanence in laughter, hitting people and destroying things, climbing high and singing, and leaving without clothes. All the above statements show that when the heart is sick, abnormal mental activity will occur.
