Mencius is one of the most important masterpieces of pre-Qin Confucianism. Together with The Analects of Confucius, it is called The Theory of Mencius and regarded as a Confucian classic. However, although Mencius and The Analects of Confucius have the same name, the differences are not small. So, what is the spiritual essence of Mencius? What's its charm?

★ The strong man is strong because of his strong personality, not politics that wants to make a fool of himself.

★ Classics are often not read, but experienced in reality.

★ Strong personality is by no means domineering. On the contrary, people with strong personality need to be low-key people.

The balloon can rise because it is full of hydrogen, and a person can rise because he has a strong personality of self-improvement. This strong character is not necessarily manifested externally, but internalized for decades.

★ Society has always been led by strength. Only by resisting the complex and ugly temptation of secular society with extraordinary temperament and will and sticking to the nature of kindness can we maintain human kindness.

★ To achieve an ideal personality, you must never expect it to be naturally generated. It needs to eliminate all kinds of evil-seeking forces that constantly breed in the hearts of "self" and "me". This process is to stick to the initial heart.

★ People with strong personality can attract everyone and mediate external disputes and pollution.

★ There is no competition and absolute truth in life, and the weak also have their own personality and space. We should respect and understand.

When our voice is soft, we can transmit the whole world smoothly. When our eyes become soft, we begin to bridge the inner gap. When our hearts are softened, we can more accurately express the warm belief that all people are equal.

★ The truly powerful force is not man-made, but inclusive education.

★ The charm of classic is that it can be internalized as a kind of personality power, supporting a person's life and dancing with the world more freely and independently!

The soul of a saint

Mencius' spiritual essence has three points:

1. theory of mind and nature: this is the basis of all Mencius' thoughts. Mencius was convinced that man had a transcendental goodness:

The goodness of human nature is even better than water. There is nothing wrong with people, and there is nothing wrong with water.

Mencius believed that human nature is good, just like water flowing downwards. Water will always flow downwards, and human nature will always be good.

2. "Benevolent politics" thought: Because Mencius advocates that human nature is good, he believes that only by implementing "benevolent politics" can the world be invincible.

3. Strong personality: Mencius advocated strong personality, which is very prominent.

Wealth can't be lewd, poverty can't be moved, and power can't be bent. This is called a gentleman.

Qi Shouji: fornication, messing with his heart; Move, easy to do; Give in and defeat his ambition. The three are not confused, but they can become courageous people.

Wealth can't disturb my mind, poverty can't change my will, and power can't bend my integrity. This is called a gentleman.

Life is what I want, and righteousness is what I want; You can't have both, and you have to sacrifice your life for righteousness.

Mencius believes that in the choice between life and righteousness, we should give up life for righteousness. Mencius' strong personality is very prominent among the pre-Qin philosophers and has the greatest and most positive influence on later generations. Among the pre-Qin philosophers, Mencius did discuss personality, which had a great influence on the formation of outstanding personality of the Chinese nation in later generations. In a word, Mencius is the founder of the outstanding personality of the Chinese nation.

The spirit of saints: the nature of kindness

Nature is good, that is, people are good. But in nature and human society, kindness is a kind of ability, which can only happen on the strong side (at least evenly), and the weak are not qualified to talk about kindness. Because the "kindness" of the weak can only cover up the incompetence of the good and the crimes of the wicked.

Because, "small solid can't be big, small solid can't be big, and weak solid can't be strong." That is, a small country cannot be an enemy of a big country, a sparsely populated country cannot be an enemy of a populous country, and a weak country cannot be an enemy of a strong country.

Wolves want to eat sheep. Who is talking about good sheep? Only when the wolf suddenly shows kindness and releases the sheep bitten in his mouth will he have kindness. In so many wars of aggression in history, the invaders killed, set fire to and robbed property. How can the invaded people talk about kindness?

It is dangerous for the weak to pin their hopes of "saving the people from fire and water" on the "kindness" of the strong. You can only save yourself.

Politics is also called strategy, and we call it politics when powerful people use this strategy. Knowing politics and understanding politics are two different things from playing politics. We should understand politics, understand politics; However, knowing politics does not mean that we play politics ourselves. In China's ancient officialdom, being in a high position but not knowing politics can only be called political naivety or stupidity. When I read Historical Records, I called people who don't understand politics stupid. This is not advocating politics, but I don't want to be a "fish man" and stupid kindness.

The strong man is strong because of his strong personality, not politics that wants to make a fool of himself.
