HPxw8600 workstation adopts tower structure, and the workstation chip

The workstation motherboard provides 8 memory slots, and the maximum memory can be upgraded to 32GB;; The workstation chassis provides four 3 "5" hard disk carriers, which can install four SATA/SAS hard disks. 2 "1 POST Common Fault Codes and Solutions

After using the workstation for more than two years, we have come up with a conclusion.

Some common POST fault codes are classified as follows.

The corresponding solutions are given.

2 "1" 1 system configuration class

Typical codes: 102, 103,10, 162, 163.

(1) information description: 102, 103-syst _ MBO [r f [cl-ur _].

Cause of failure: 102,103-DMA (DCR _] TM _ Moya]] _ SS direct memory access) or improper timer setting or failure.

Solution: Clear CMOS first, and then remove the expansion board.

Or expand the hardware on the board, and then replace the system motherboard.

(2) Information description:110-outo`m _ mory`orop-tconroms.

Cause of failure: Due to memory limitation, the optional ROM of the device is not available.

Method operation.

(3) Information description:

Cause of failure: DIMM(du[L- in LCN _-

Solution: Match the memory module correctly according to the service tag on the workstation maintenance board.

In field production, especially after the relocation of instruments, it often happens.

The main reason for the above failure is that the memory module was knocked over during relocation.

Loose or sundries enter the DIMM module slot. So decide.

It is important to clean the workstation in the future.

Typical codes: 30 1, 303,304, 5 12, 5 13, 5 14.

3 diagnostic LEDs and sound (beep) codes

In the process of workstation self-checking and system loading, the system will make different beeps according to the loading progress of POST program.

And the LED indicator on the front panel will give a flashing code accordingly. When a fault occurs, the LED indicator flashes, and the buzzer will be repeated for 5 times, and then only the LED indicator will continue to flash.

4 workstation memory module and hard disk features

4 inches 1 memory module

The memory module configuration on the motherboard of HPxw8600 system supports 8 DIMM slots, using DDR 2-667 (double data rate-667MHz) and fully buffered DIMM(FBD). The maximum configuration of 4GBDIMM on the system motherboard is 32GB, and the maximum memory can reach 128GB after adding expansion cards. Can be configured as single channel (one DIMM), dual channel (two DIMMs) or four channel (four DIMMs); The storage module is shown in figure 1.

In order to ensure the correct installation, the memory module and its slot are designed with grooves. When installing the memory module, make sure to align the rail settings. If multiple memory modules are installed in the workstation, each channel is paired with a memory module supported by a motherboard of the same size and type. The memory module installation principles that must be followed are:

(1) If the memory module is installed, install it in the slot 1;

(2) If two memory modules are installed, put them in the slot.

The memory, hard disk, CD-ROM drive, fan and other components in the computer system are vulnerable devices. In addition, workstations are used in field production, and the working environment is harsh, so these components are more prone to failure. In daily maintenance and troubleshooting, we must follow the standard safety procedures and steps, especially to eliminate the influence of static electricity, and pay attention to the following points:

(1) When the installer works as a workstation, please make sure that the cooling hole of the workstation is open.

The influence of wind;

(2) The workstation should be as far away from the equipment that produces magnetic field interference as possible; (3) If four memory modules are installed, install them in the slot pairs: 1/3 and 5/7; (4) If 6 memory modules are installed, install them in slot pairs: 1/3, 5/7 and 2/4; (5) If eight memory modules are installed, please install them in the slot pairs: 1/3, 5/7, 2/4 and 6/8. 4 "2 hard disk system -SAS hard disk

The hard disk of HPxw8600 workstation is SAS(S _ RC[LATT[-]B _ SCSI] hard disk, that is, serial SCSI. The new generation of SCSI technology, like the popular S _ RC [LATA (SATA) hard disk, adopts serial technology to obtain higher transmission speed and improve internal space by shortening the connecting cable. SAS is a brand-new interface developed after parallel SCSI interface. The purpose of this interface is to improve the performance, availability and scalability of the storage system, and to provide compatibility with SA- TA hard disk.

TA hard disk and SATA cable can be plugged into SATA and SAS ports. On the other hand, SAS hard disk cannot be plugged into SATA interface.

In order to prevent users from connecting to SAS hard disk.

(3) Keep the equipment ventilated and dry, and power on the workstation regularly to prevent the electronic equipment in the workstation from being damaged by moisture;

(4) Try to avoid hot-plug keyboard and mouse, that is, the current workstation supports plug and play of external devices, and hot-plug will also reduce the service life of the interface;

(5) Take anti-static measures. Static electricity may damage the workstation chip. To avoid this, the main chassis must be grounded. Before opening the cabinet and after shutting down the system, the power cord of the workstation must be disconnected (internal components may turn on the power). Only after the operator touches the dischargeable object by hand can the cabinet be opened for maintenance.

(6) Prevent dust hazards. The accumulated dust will make the hardware generate static electricity during operation. In severe cases, excessive dust will generate static electricity and damage the hardware. Therefore, the chassis should be dusted regularly to ensure the working environment in the workstation chassis is clean.
