In the early 1980s, Zhang Zhiguang, as a scale insect tutor, offered scale insect taxonomy, scale insect literature discussion and other courses for graduate students, and trained five graduate students. When training graduate students, he had a long history of raising tussah in Yantai, Shandong. Tussah feed is the leaves of oak trees in beech family. This tree species has many pests and diseases, but no one has studied it. Especially the harm and research of scale insects, such as scale insects, oak scale insects, scale insects, scale insects, scale insects, scale insects, scale insects and so on. This is of positive significance to solve the problem that the damaged oak tree affects the feed of tussah, and also fills the gaps in these families and genera, laying the foundation for further research. In addition to Shandong Province, he also went to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and Northeast China where oak trees grow. By consulting foreign literature, he found 19 new species. The life table of Rhodococcus studied is a contribution to the prevention and control of Rhodococcus. It was found that the same species of scale insects in the genus Chain Scale was dimorphic at the age of 1 ~ 2 years, which provided clues for further study on the nutritional physiology of food and scale insects. After retirement, he gave these precious scales and identification materials to graduate students.
Since the early 1950s, Zhang Zhiguang has attached importance to the collection and scientific research of natural enemy insect specimens, and accumulated a large number of natural enemy insect specimens to serve the teaching. He often leads students to observe and investigate the situation of syrphids (larvae), ladybugs that prey on cotton aphids, cotton bollworms parasitized by swollen-legged bees, Pieris rapae larvae and pupae in cotton fields. Under his guidance, his students became experts in the field of biological pest control in practical work and made contributions.
On 1984, Zhang Zhiguang presided over the Survey of Natural Enemy Resources of Pests in Shandong Province, and worked out the Catalogue of Natural Enemy Insects in Shandong Province with student Wang Xiwen. The list contains 8 orders, 37 families 102 genera 160 species. Each natural enemy has its distribution, host or prey, collection location, collection method, brief habits and so on. Among them, there are 78 kinds of agricultural and forestry pests, and 4 1 species of natural enemy insects trapped under black light (20 watts), and their respective appearance dates are recorded, and some of them also record their peak periods. The natural enemy insects collected by investigation were raised and observed, and it was found that wasps parasitic on the pear moth were also parasitic on the pear moth. The white wasp parasitic on the armyworm is also parasitic on the bean moth; The wasp in the lower abdomen of the rice borer is also parasitic on the bean pit wing moth. These are all new records. The research won the third prize of scientific and technological progress of Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture.
Zhang Zhiguang came to Shandong Agricultural College from 1950, and successively offered courses such as agricultural entomology, biological pest control and stored grain pests. His teaching is rigorous, clear, vivid and easy to understand, and pays attention to the cultivation of students' ability.
He often writes his own textbooks. In the arrangement of teaching calendar, the lecture time should be as consistent as possible with the occurrence time of pests observed in the field. Such as wheat and cotton pests in spring, corn borer, corn borer and soybean pests in summer and sweet potato pests in autumn. In order to teach stored grain pests well, he contacted Tai 'an Grain Management Institute and made a visit. In particular, the process of fumigation with chloropicrin was explained and demonstrated by the technical responsible comrades, and the effect test after prevention and control was also shown to the students. Zhang Zhiguang pays more attention to the experimental class. Before the experiment, fresh specimens were collected in person to describe the morphological characteristics of pests realistically. Therefore, his class was praised by the students.
In order to improve the teaching quality, on 1950, he invited Mr. Fu Shengfa, who studies the prevention and control of cotton diseases and insect pests, to give the students a special lecture on cotton diseases and insect pests. He has led students to observe the teaching of agricultural entomology many times. 195 1 in June, Shi led students to Huimin county to help people control cotton aphids with cotton oil soap, and instructed students to set up sampling points in the field to understand different aphid types and natural enemies of cotton aphids. Students were instructed to observe the spawning, damage and control of pear fruit bees, pear gall moths, pear stem bees and other pests in Shandong pear producing areas of 1958+0 and 1952 respectively. These practical activities have improved students' professional knowledge and skills.
1965, Zhang Zhiguang proposed to reform the teaching system in combination with the production site. The practice is that the three main courses of agricultural entomology, agricultural plant pathology and phytochemical protection for the third-year students of the Department of Plant Protection are all taught on the farm, and lecturers and teaching assistants live on the farm. Divide the students into several special groups to carry out special investigations on diseases, pests and chemical protection. In this way, every year from mid-May to mid-September, we teach field crops, various vegetables and fruit trees at the peak, and practice the investigation and prevention of armyworm in wheat fields, the biology and prevention of corn borer, the investigation and prevention of vegetable pests and the observation and prevention of fruit tree pests. The black light installed by the students is responsible for collecting and making insect specimens in turn. The farm also provides medical equipment, and teachers and students undertake pest control of various crops. Before the end of on-site teaching in mid-September, the teaching system was comprehensively summarized from the organizational form to the practical harvest, and the focus group had an exchange so that everyone could learn from each other and learn from each other. Teachers and students have a high opinion of this teaching form, which is considered to be the teaching of integrating theory with practice, the teaching of strengthening students' hands-on operation ability and the teaching of solving practical problems for production. So I started using it from 1965.
Professor Zhang Zhiguang has been teaching for more than 30 years. He is conscientious and diligent, and has trained students all over the world, making great contributions to the cause of agricultural insects in Shandong Province. Therefore 1993 was approved to enjoy the special government allowance issued by the State Council.
