Early experience
Li Yuantao's talent for mathematics was revealed as early as primary school. When he was in the fifth grade of primary school, he began to participate in provincial and national mathematics competitions and won many awards. In junior high school, he won the first prize in the national mathematics competition for middle school students. These achievements enabled him to be admitted to the middle school affiliated to Peking University when he graduated from junior high school.
Enter the field of mathematics
While studying in the middle school affiliated to Peking University, Li Yuantao joined the school's mathematics research group and began to participate in the international mathematical olympiad. He got full marks in 20 15 IMO, becoming the second student to win the IMO gold medal in the history of China. Since then, he has also won 20 16 and 20 17 IMO gold medals.

In addition to his achievements in the International Mathematical Olympiad, Li Yuantao has also made outstanding achievements in academic research. After 20 17 International Mathematical Olympiad, it was admitted by many world-class universities such as Harvard University, Princeton University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and finally chose Harvard University. While studying at Harvard University, he published a paper in the top mathematical journal Mathematical Yearbook, becoming the youngest author of this paper in the history of China.
Future prospects
Li Yuantao is currently studying for a doctorate in mathematics at Harvard University, and plans to become a professor of mathematics in the future. He said that he hoped to make more achievements in the field of mathematics and make his own contribution to the development of mathematics in China.
