Lanzhou University of Arts and Science is an ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education on 20 13. Its predecessor was Gansu Education College founded by 1950 and Gansu Union University founded by 1985, and it was merged into Gansu Art School on 201/. The school is the first batch of pilot institutions for transformation and development in Gansu Province. The Communication University of China, designated by the Ministry of Education, provides counterpart support to western universities, which is the training base for non-hereditary population of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is the first "civilized campus" in Gansu Province and a "model college" for Party building in Gansu Province in the new period.

The school has 14 teaching units and 36 undergraduate majors. In February 2022, the school added primary education, intangible cultural heritage protection and accounting.

There are more than 900 faculty members, 608 full-time teachers and 3 17 teachers with senior titles, accounting for 52. 1% of full-time teachers. There are 477 people with doctoral and master's degrees, accounting for 78.5% of full-time teachers.

The school implements the Wild Goose Garden Talent Project, combining external introduction with internal training, and introduces a group of outstanding talents with high academic qualifications and titles; National masters of arts and crafts, famous painters and calligraphers, famous writers, winners of the "Plum Blossom Award" of Chinese drama, etc. 14 industry leaders were hired as resident experts, and more than 100 high-level talents from various industries and disciplines were named distinguished professor.
