Two years later, he was convicted of the fall of Yongle City and was demoted again. At the age of 57, Shen Kuo settled in Runzhou, now Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province. He bought a garden there, saying it was similar to the place he dreamed of when he was young, so he named it "Meng Xi Park" and lived there for 8 years until his death.
