In 2002, he conducted cooperative research in the State Key Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry.
In 2003, he studied for a doctorate in cell biology in the State Key Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry of China Agricultural University. In the same year, he worked in the School of Life Sciences of Shandong Agricultural University and joined the molecular biology research team of crop development in the State Key Laboratory of Crop Biology.
