Starting from 1965, Zhu set up scholarships to study in the United States with his own strength to help poor and talented young people go to the United States to study in universities. The purpose of the establishment is to serve as a national material reserve. Mr. Zhu's son-in-law, Jiang Ningxi, is a professor and dean of Vincennes University in Indiana, USA.
Therefore, Mr. Wen Jing first reached an agreement with this school, and then extended it to other universities. Mr. Wen Jing canceled the advertisement in the Hong Kong newspaper to help students studying in the United States, and went around the streets personally, visited families and schools, determined the list of scholarships, and personally led students to the United States to arrange accommodation and go through the admission procedures.
He constantly encourages students to make progress, contacts their parents and solves their ideological problems. After studying in the United States for one or two years, many students transferred to Harvard, MIT and other famous schools. Many people have obtained master's and doctor's degrees and become outstanding talents. Some of them have returned to Hong Kong, such as Dr. Li Anguo, professor of information engineering at the University of Hong Kong, and Jack lu, general manager of HSBC.
In the past 20 years, Mr. Wen Jing has sponsored more than 700 young people to study in the United States. Because of Mr. Zhu Lao's achievements in cultivating talents, 1973 was awarded an honorary doctorate in humanities by Vinson University, and was honored as a tutor by the president of the school.
From 65438 to 0985, Mr. Zhu established Zhu Education Foundation in Hong Kong, and was officially registered as a completely non-profit charity in Hong Kong. With the opening and development of Chinese mainland, the Foundation turned its attention to higher education institutions in Chinese mainland.
From 65438 to 0986, Mr. Wen Jing was old and weak, and the work of the Foundation was presided over by his eldest son Zhu Enyu. Thanks to the efforts of Zhu Enyu and his wife, the Zhu Scholarship was established in Suzhou University from 65438 to 0988. In the future, scholarships will be gradually extended to many universities in the province. Since 1999, Zhu Education Fund has funded 3 million yuan of students and nearly 3,000 students every year, and has funded the establishment of modern libraries in these schools, benefiting tens of thousands of college students and spreading the spirit widely.
Mr. Zhu Lao died in Hong Kong in February 1996, and Mrs. Yang Wanzhen died in March12000. Both parents are over 90 years old and buried in Suzhou Dongshan Overseas Chinese Cemetery.
