When people asked Michelle Obama to describe herself, she did not hesitate. First of all, she is Maria and Sasha's mother.
But before she became a mother-or a wife, a lawyer or a civil servant-she was the daughter of Fraser and Marian Robinson.
The Robinsons live in a brick bungalow in the south of Chicago. Fraser is a pump operator in the Chicago water department. Although he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when he was young, he hardly missed a day's work. Marianne stayed at home to raise Michelle and her brother Craig, and skillfully managed this busy family full of love, laughter and important life lessons.
As a student of Chicago public schools, Michelle studied sociology and African American studies at Princeton University. 1988 After graduating from Harvard Law School, she joined the Chicago law firm Sidley & In Austin, she later met the man who later became the love of her life.
A few years later, Michelle thought her real mission was to encourage people to serve their communities and neighbors. She served as assistant Commissioner for Planning and Development of Chicago City Hall, and later became the founding executive director of Chicago Branch of Public Allies, an American Legion program to prepare young people for public service.
1996, Michelle joined the University of Chicago with the vision of integrating campus and community. As the vice president of student services, she developed the school's first community service project. Under her leadership as the vice president of community and external affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center, voluntary service developed rapidly.
As the first lady, Michelle Obama looks forward to continuing to work on her most concerned issues-supporting military families, helping professional women balance their careers and families, and encouraging national service.
Michelle and barack obama have two daughters:/kloc-Maria, 0/0, and Sasha, 7. Like their mothers, these girls were born in the south of Chicago.
