Currently, he is the director of infectious diseases department of Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Second Medical University, director of teaching and research section of infectious diseases and epidemiology, chief physician, professor, doctoral tutor and master tutor, member of infectious diseases branch of Chinese Medical Association, member and secretary-general of Shanghai Branch, standing member of expert committee of Shanghai Liver Disease Research Center, standing member of Shanghai Chronic Hepatitis Prevention and Research Center, and member of internal medicine and liver disease professional committee of Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Association. Expert member of the Clinical Quality Control Committee of Infectious Diseases in Shanghai Infectious Diseases Hospital, member of the Shanghai Clinical Expert Group for SARS Prevention and Treatment, expert of the National Natural Science Foundation, and editor of various magazines such as World Journal of Gastroenterology, China Journal of Infectious Diseases and China Journal of Hepatology.
